The Puppet Interviews Digg’s Kevin Rose
by Michael Arrington on May 22, 2008

It amazes me that people actually talk to Loren Feldman’s puppet and treat it like a real interview. Example above: this interview with Kevin Rose starts off innocently enough, but goes down hill from there. The only real news value in the story is that Digg’s still working on that recommendation feature. The high entertainment value, including a few seconds about Kevin’s dating life, make for the lack of actual news though.

Just wondering..do you ever sleep ;-)

I love how Chris Saad getting his haircut is one of the related videos at the end of that clip.

I liked this one.

(it’s like a web 2.0 version of the Muppet Show)

child-like innocence is actually a great business quality… we need more

Someday the puppets will interview me (can my own puppet interview me?) and I’ll tell it how they helped me start a show with Revision 3 (that the real Shel Israel is co-hosting, by the way) and how they helped me get a sponsor for it. What’s really funny is that Loren started the puppet show to get me fired and it’s having the absolute opposite effect. Not only that but Jason Calacanis is pissed that he doesn’t have a puppet yet. Hah!

Short and sweet. Great job Shel… errr Loren

puppets are stupid.

Loren Feldman is the best thing going on the Internet.

I was expecting the video reply to be done in a French accent. I got thrown off there.

Where would Loren even be if it wasn’t for Arrington?

Peter - no, Loren has many voices in his repertoire. Well, two anyway.

yippe, another thinly veiled publicity stunt by the resolutely devoid of talent LF.

Arrington, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels it but between you Scoble, Le Meur and this attention starved dancing monkey it’s becoming more and more difficult to visit your site.

It’s playing out like a bad soap opera. Bad acting and a predictable plot (X offends Y - leave The Dancing Monkey to fire off some nasty comment or 2 - heck he’ll do anything for his 15mins, go wild monkey! - brew a shitstorm then next week best friends again). Get over yourselves.

Loren Feldman has one new fan.

HENDRIKSON, IS THAT YAHOO POST UP YET!?

I dont know how anyone keeps a straight face when talking to a sock puppet, lol.

@Loren: did Arrington make his comments during #9 from the bathroom given that he got food poisoning at the Seattle Hyatt?

I am being 100% honest when I say that was the best tech related interview I’ve ever seen.

god i love loren, dude is funny shit

I laughed so hard.

Some people like a little entertainment in their news.

pretty good interview even if it was a a puppet.

That isn’t the first time Kevin’s been involved with a puppet, though. A while ago he was on my show, dotBoom, AS a puppet, along with Alex Albrecht and Leo Laporte:

You’re a little late to the party, Loren!

Wow as a huge fan of Digg and revision 3 im glad to see that there still on the cutting edge. Keep up the good work guys and keep it new.

Gee, I don’t know what to say.

nice personality developing here, the group one too

Scoble = Past, sold out, stale
Feldman = Future, entertaining, charismatic

Loren and Robert are two different animals :-) I thought this interivew was 1)funny, 2)informative and 3)not objectionable. All good, Loren.

What’s the Bette Midler reference?

Francine - So glad I have your approval Francine. It really means the world to me to have your approval. One thing. Who are you?

Brian Hogg - Just deal with it.

What kind of garbage is this? He’s some geek with a site, this isn’t news

@Shambhu: Bette Midler starred in “The Rose”

Get it?

#9 is easily TechCrunch comment of the month.

Loren: Just deal with what?

Also, way to be a dick to someone complimenting your work, sir. That shows real class.

The interview was pretty funny, but man, the video comments are not. It’s kind of sad, really. The potential for great content is obviously there, but with such a spiteful personality behind it, I can’t see it going very far.

By the way, there used to be a different kind of Loren who spoke quite candidly on the CalacanisCast (I believe #15) about weight and fatblogging.

Apparently he didn’t hate fat people then.

I didn’t actually think I’d like that, but I did, I loved. it.

Brilliant.

Seriously, Scoble’s stuff sucks. So does Shel’s stuff. They are a couple of dorks who are terrible on camera.

Hendrickson ..HENDRICKSON!!! Where is That Post?????

Brought to You By.. S.A.P.

What’s amazing to me is that this BullShiii is even on here?!?!? I thought this was all about tech, not puppet shows. Really, this belongs on the who gives a shiii channel. Techcrunch is doing a lot of facilitating here. Hmmm,..

I thought that vid was awesome enough to leave a comment. Props to Loren! Woot! The world needs more puppets!!
