Gotta love it. Mighty old Windows showing the third world how advanced we are in quality software development. On the other hand, why should the poor people on this world not have to go through the same pains that we had to before we discovered OSX and Linux
Don’t get me wrong, we love all computers

Wow, how many times has this joke been done?
@Peter U: You are correct
its just that if I had money I would give also many laptops.
Do you follow me? @Twitter LC
No matter how many times this joke has been done, its still a classic.
@ Live Crunch
We actually do support the project and I personally think it’s a critical project to avoid the social gap to grow even wider between the worlds.

I actually did the same thing for my blog post on this. I wish I had thought to submit it to TC!
I am a Windows systems enginner and have worked for very high profiled applications in medical field.
When you go to ER, your life depends on apps hosted on Windows platform.
Every insurance co. out there is on Windows. So many critical web sites are hosted on windows.
Yeah Mac is cool if you wanna edit and upload you tube videos and but I really dont understand all this stupid “lets make fun of Windows mentality”.
When’s the last time somebody actually got a BSOD?! I honestly can’t remember the last time I did.. it’s been several years and that’s including several XP installs and a Vista install. But I guess it makes the tiny % of mac users feel better if they keep throwing out the same tired joke that doesn’t even apply anymore.
@7
Because its the trendy thing to do. Its like people who brag about how big their wiener is. They act like they’re hung like a retarded donkey, when instead it looks like an acorn sitting on a beanbag.
I’ve always laughed at the Mac commercials, not because they’re creative or anything, but they have to slander another OS to boost their own sales. I dont see Microsoft doing that…
Golf-clap to Bob for his comedy.
BTW, did anyone notice the default search for OLPC? It’s google, of course. Contribution by Google to the OLPC codebase — that’s right, built into the (non-windows) OS.
Microsoft, Google….birds of a feather.
@I dont understand
Brand Loyalty = Herd Mentality
havent seen a bsod for five years using xp.
they are doing good deeds, why hurt MS’s feeling? We also want the kids get access to a more common windows with lower cost, don’t we?
I would expect a little bit more from techcrunch. It will be really sad if this becomes trend on this site. Another Windows/MAC hater ring?
Peter Urban stop talking to yourself (a.k.a LiveCrunch)
You forgot to change your stupid “do you follow me” link when you last posted as Peter….lamer!!!

booooooooooooooooo!
is it me or do all mac supporters drive VWs’?
I recently switched to a Mac to be more easily compatible with my coworkers, and while I’m extremely happy with my new machine, I must admit that I find myself embarrassed regularly by other Mac users.
Ever find yourself in a coffee shop and glance over at the screen of the nearest Mac user? Five bucks says they’re on Apple.com.
Cheap joke. Get a life man
A kernel panic screen for 400USD would be much better isn’t it, Mactards.
It’s very nice digital fake done by Adobe Photoshop. On the upper right side of blue screen — You can see sharp edge instead of oval. It would be nice to show it on youtube.
#8 “When’s the last time somebody actually got a BSOD?!”
About an hour ago.
grrrrooooaaaaaan, come on! this might have been funny 5 years ago :\
People need to take things less seriously (in reference to some other comments) — it’s a funny little jab!
You would think the kids in third world countries would have suffered enough. At least we know what Microsoft is doing with all their old Windows ME discs.
We know that Jimmy, it’s a joke. A classic one
@ I dont understand,
Now I feel really unsafe. Thanks a lot. No wonder healthcare sucks so much.
XP on OLPC.. What a disappointment.

#8 “When’s the last time somebody actually got a BSOD?!”
I don’t get one but only because my machine keeps rebooting after SP3.
In Vista it’s not blue anymore. More of a hip grayscale sorta thing…
*yawn*
How original. Elitist bloggers poking fun at Microsoft.
Do you still make fun of fat kids during recess, too?
“No wonder healthcare sucks so much.” Yeap…
What is biggest discrimination in the U.S?
Healthcare system for all class, race, income, status, and repulations. You don’t get the best healthcare and treatments. You have doctors write notes and kept in very large private data. It’s soo secret… No one can dig that deeper secrets inside health care system. Not even government and private sectors.
Only God gifted disability who can break into healthcare system. You could only get best healthcare if break into real national treasure, CIA’s Kryptos, the secrets of holy gail. It’s very dangerous for anyone to mess and hack into private database inside AREA 51. What is best thing to do?
Grow old, read techcrunch, and die.
@30 - you skipped your meds didn’t you.
I think that OLPC is being terribly mismanaged (check out Ivan’s post on the OLPC Planet for a good summary) and I think Windows on the OLPC is a dumb idea because the disk space requirements are bigger and they have to upgrade the flash memory from 1GB to 4GB to make Windows work and thereby massively increasing the price. I think, however, that Techcrunch’s OLPC reporting is almost never informed but instead spiteful and ignorant. Techcrunch is great and the shoddy OLPC reporting is not only unfair to the project and to the people who hate how it is managed and want to change it (I am not affiliated though I bought a 1G1G). Either write real articles (with real research) about it or just ignore it.
I think windows on olpc is lame but wow this might the least creative post I’ve ever seen on any topic. You must have been up all night working on that. Soooo lame. That’s really the best you’ve got? Pathetic.
This a US+EU+Japan countermeasure to stop GDP growth of developing countries in the next 3 decades.
Very smart…
Yeap.. It’s very very important for me to stay healthy and clean. I don’t believe doctors and healthcare providers. I’m sick of tire getting professionally scam and scam by drug TV ads.
I heard before OLPC XO-1 been created . Apple offered Mac OS X for them but they said they want a fully open source operating system. Now, all they have is fully closed source operating system. Poor judgment from Negroponte.
@Zoul poor judgment by Negroponte perhaps, but brilliant negotiating by the MS sales team. It’s the same tactics as beauty salons are using with the 6 year olds, hook them when they are young and fragile and you’ll have an addicted customer for life.
hahahahahaha, so tue. That just made my day - Thanks!
According to Steve Jobs, by and large, people do not read anymore - better invest in VIDEO.
@22, I agree… this isn’t funny anymore.
Someone knows how to use the ‘I’ve got nothin’ original/dead horse’ stamping tool! I’m astonished that anyone still thinks this is clever. If it “made your day” you haven’t had one to speak of.
If only people understood that it wasn’t Microsoft that courted OLPC, but the other way around. The reason OLPC decided to switch to Microsoft was because third world countries wanted their kids to start learning Windows. These countries realized that the Sugar core did not cut it. There are almost a dozen countries that are holding out on OLPCs because they do not run Windows. The haters can bitch all they want, but they cant change the facts.
Any new web 2.0 startup?
I’ve never gotten a BSOD with Windows XP.
@7 - I don’t Understand
Simple Psychology, the minority always bands together and becomes a team for their cause.
Look at how low Mac has to go with commercial full of Rhetoric. I’m glad Windows doesn’t stoop that low, because there are lots of things they could say. Bill Gates is giving lots of money to high schools, Steve Jobs is building a rocket.
I am not a windows fanboy and I have had vista for over a year and 0 problems, but the passive aggressiveness level of maturity makes one laugh when you realize how much Apple controls their users. If I owned a Mac, I’d feel mocked by their shallow commercials and flavor of the month orgy of pop culture.
One of the great ironies is Mac went to PCs inside standards and if weren’t for the iPod revolution, Mac would probably not be where it is today. Mac people quickly forget this.
I will say this about mac, their clean line designs are the best. As for OS, yeah I’ve seen Mac OSX freeze up too, just because the screen wasn’t blue doesn’t mean you’re sh*t doesn’t stink either. But it is funny to see all the people who believe the rhetoric. Like “they have WMD and we’re all going to die unless we attack!” It always amazes me how many people who don’t think, except for, do I look cool with a Mac or a PC? Seriously I need to know, I am shallow and care what others think about me. I wanna be the cool young kid in the commercial, not the fat nerd who doesn’t get laid.
MS is evil and Apple is good right?
http://www.wired.com/gadgets/m.....6/01/70072
Think before you open your mouths. MS has done more for us than Apple, and I’m not going to count your flavor of the month iPod and iPhone. That’s help us so much I know, how could you listen to Justin Timber Lake on the way to the mall without it? OMG what will people think if you don’t conform to pop culture! I am so insecure, I need to be cool to be liked cause I am so shallow. omg help me Apple, hurry and release something new and fullfill me with some material item that brings value to my life. USA USA USA…. pffft dBags
Lame.
Please take your OS hatred elsewhere. You’re really going to lose the average guy on this one, because we’re not all Linux losers who barf software politics on unsuspecting passers-by.
Who gets the blue screen of death anymore? C’mon, step out of the 90s, grandma.
