I thing these is black humor since XP is reliable and i agree that it will be a good answer for those who don´t have chance to publish here any message at all. So for starting is very good XP in OLPC, maybe in the future they can choose.

that's win9x, not 2000, XP or Vista. Looks kinda old, at least the text is centered. On Linux it would be arranged top left and it would be a black screen, which we all know consumes more energy :-)

Oh dear, this is the first time I've come across this site and boy, aren't we a touchy lot.

Surely we should be considering horses for courses. What will work best with this computer. Yes, Microsoft is bloated and fat, that's why Vista is a non starter on OLPC. Remember, the more bloated the Operating System the less room there is for any Applications software. And, what do you use on a computer? Not Windows, Mac nor Linux, they just support the real work horses, the word processors, spread sheets, CAD, ect.

For information, I used to use Xp on my desktop but changed to openSuSE when my copy of Xp, (bought legitimately), failed to authenticate on a rebuild and, I'm not going to give Bil Gates more money to get software I already own to work again! (Evidently, you never own your Microsoft software, you just get a license to use it.)

Then you obviously have no idea how to handle and/or maintain a computer.

I realize that it is now "cool" to bash Microsoft and warship Apple, but I was under the misapprehension that Techcrunch was a general technology blog, not an Apple fan blog. These adolescent Microsoft barbs are appearing more and more on Techcrunch, and each time this happens it lessons my interest in your publication as a reputable source of technology news.

We hear you fall,
we hear you scream,
we know it's hard,
hard to believe...

And yet again,
this is the thing,
it's called right,
marketing scheme.

You see this first,
you fall in love,
then you get hooked,
you are now in love.

Say that again?
I have to pay?
How much is it?
500 you say?

I know that - I
need - it - to survive,
to - remain competitive,
work to stay alive.

The first fix's free,
and you get hooked,
then when you need it to be,
it turns out you are screwed.

Tsk tsk tsk.

I am about ready to break up with all my Office 2007 products and IE, and I'm a last holdout, but I can break a mac and get its crimson hued slightly tinged with fuscia blank screen of death easily too, so not sure why people say macs never freeze/ crash. Give me your mac and I'll crash it as I do all computers....

Olpc is a scam. These kids don't need computers. They need real help.
Besides, Windows and Linux are essentially the same OS.
