I have not seen the site yet, it said there were 2 invites left, so I gave them my email address, yay Bait and switch, and didn’t get in. BUT with that said, here in America Chris W, there is something called freedom of speech. I am glad he posted something and didn’t let his website speak for itself, cause I would of never of known about his website, now I do. What I do hear, and what speaks for itself is a man who is passionate about his business.

Calan, nice posts, but here in America there is something called capitalism. Now stFudgeU and go kick some ass you bald lil lesbian.

In reality all these little travel sites are offering innumerable variations on the same thing. Same exact travel info and content, sliced and diced 1001 different ways… Same recommendation engines, same advice, same social networking with other travers, same travel tips, maps, photo sharing, logs, diaries, etc.

Try travelmuse.com and myplacemat.com for even more lame variations on this tired, stale, done-to-death motif.

Even the names they’re using borfer on the ridiculous and meaningless these days…

Tripwolf? How likely is this to stand out or catch on as a brand amidst 100 clones?

What is new about any of these sites? Nothing. It’s the same sh*t with a different logo attached.

As a long-term reader of TechCrunch I, along with the bulk of commenter’s on this post, follow innovation in the industry, giving up the early hours to read about something new, something different, and something that inspires thought. I could hide behind a pseudonym or I can stand up and give my opinion, I choose the latter, and I’ve earned the right.

You offer no intellectual argument or rebuttal to my comment and your belittling of a dedicated reader’s opinion who has done nothing more than ask for innovation, does little to promote what this blog aims to achieve. A reader has the balls to stand up and ask for innovation and all you come back with is to call it ‘tripe’. What does that say about you?

The world will never be fair, but you can stand up and be counted. And as you can see from the comments in this post, the writer does not have the only opinion on the subject. I think it’s fair to say that the majority don’t think it warrants the post.

And it’s not like they can tweak these sites in this or that way to make them stand out from the pack. They all do essentially the same things with the same information.

With so many of these little travel sites doing the same things, how will any of them create a big enough audience to monetize anything?

It doesn’t look too hopeful for any of them.

u need to understand there are a lot other startups that deserve mentioning sometimes, if TC could make that process to evaluate worthly startups, that would be great.
