Mashable also have 200 invites on their post about tripwolf. These are being smart in the way they're doing this. I agree with alot of the other posts. it doesn't look lke it brings anything new to the table. The design is very nice though.

hey, thanks for all the interest in tripwolf! As one of the tripwolf founders, I obviously don't share some of the opinions expressed here. tripwolf does stand out from the admittedly big travel crowd in some key areas. We will announce some great features and partnerships soon that will make this very clear. Just watch this space.

@24 - What is this Nazi Germany? I am glad he said something. Nothing worse than seeing a leader of a company take it ___. However tacky or desperate it sounded, he's passionate.

I have not seen the site yet, it said there were 2 invites left, so I gave them my email address, yay Bait and switch, and didn't get in. BUT with that said, here in America Chris W, there is something called freedom of speech. I am glad he posted something and didn't let his website speak for itself, cause I would of never of known about his website, now I do. What I do hear, and what speaks for itself is a man who is passionate about his business.

Calan, nice posts, but here in America there is something called capitalism. Now stFudgeU and go kick some ass you bald lil lesbian.

Every new travel site jumps into the market with blinders on and thinks it's all that and a bag of cookies. They all think they are the killer app of travel... And they all may as well be smoking the crack pipe.

In reality all these little travel sites are offering innumerable variations on the same thing. Same exact travel info and content, sliced and diced 1001 different ways... Same recommendation engines, same advice, same social networking with other travers, same travel tips, maps, photo sharing, logs, diaries, etc.

Try travelmuse.com and myplacemat.com for even more lame variations on this tired, stale, done-to-death motif.

Even the names they're using borfer on the ridiculous and meaningless these days...

Tripwolf? How likely is this to stand out or catch on as a brand amidst 100 clones?

What is new about any of these sites? Nothing. It's the same sh*t with a different logo attached.

There is nothing new about this site. Congrats to Calan for saying what many think. Cover the innovators and leave the copies. Nobody wants to see a site given mileage simply because their VC firm has the biggest voice. Nothing wrong with opinion and why shouldn't it come from those who were there first.

@Duncan Riley

- "there is nothing worse than seeing is CEO’s from competitors in the space bagging a new startup"

As a long-term reader of TechCrunch I, along with the bulk of commenter's on this post, follow innovation in the industry, giving up the early hours to read about something new, something different, and something that inspires thought. I could hide behind a pseudonym or I can stand up and give my opinion, I choose the latter, and I've earned the right.

- "your comment reflects far more on you than it does on Tripwolf"

You offer no intellectual argument or rebuttal to my comment and your belittling of a dedicated reader's opinion who has done nothing more than ask for innovation, does little to promote what this blog aims to achieve. A reader has the balls to stand up and ask for innovation and all you come back with is to call it 'tripe'. What does that say about you?

@SD

- "this is not a fair world. you are not alone. but what can u do about it?"

The world will never be fair, but you can stand up and be counted. And as you can see from the comments in this post, the writer does not have the only opinion on the subject. I think it's fair to say that the majority don't think it warrants the post.

@Duncan

Listen to what your readers are saying and come back with a thought, they'll respect you more for it.

Kind regards,
Calan

@Duncan Riley

- “there is nothing worse than seeing is CEO’s from competitors in the space bagging a new startup”

As a long-term reader of TechCrunch I, along with the bulk of commenter’s on this post, follow innovation in the industry, giving up the early hours to read about something new, something different, and something that inspires thought. I could hide behind a pseudonym or I can stand up and give my opinion, I choose the latter, and I’ve earned the right.

- “your comment reflects far more on you than it does on Tripwolf”

You offer no intellectual argument or rebuttal to my comment and your belittling of a dedicated reader’s opinion who has done nothing more than ask for innovation, does little to promote what this blog aims to achieve. A reader has the balls to stand up and ask for innovation and all you come back with is to call it ‘tripe’. What does that say about you?

@SD

- “this is not a fair world. you are not alone. but what can u do about it?”

The world will never be fair, but you can stand up and be counted. And as you can see from the comments in this post, the writer does not have the only opinion on the subject. I think it’s fair to say that the majority don’t think it warrants the post.

@Duncan

Listen to what your readers are saying and come back with a thought, they’ll respect you more for it.

Kind regards,
Calan

This is nothing but a clone of a bunch of other travel recommendation and advice sites. There are more than just a few of these sites around -- they're proliferating like mosquitoes around a lake.

And it's not like they can tweak these sites in this or that way to make them stand out from the pack. They all do essentially the same things with the same information.

With so many of these little travel sites doing the same things, how will any of them create a big enough audience to monetize anything?

It doesn't look too hopeful for any of them.

I pressed the "send" button without entering name and e-mail, and it told me "invitation request has been sent and you will receive a response shortly!" with i in invitation not capitalized. :( Hopefully, they'll start fixing things from here...

Calan,
I understand your frustration, but what I can say is this is not a fair world. you are not alone. but what can u do about it?

Duncan,
u need to understand there are a lot other startups that deserve mentioning sometimes, if TC could make that process to evaluate worthly startups, that would be great.
