Update 2: Event is ON.
Update 1: See here, show may be canceled. More news soon.
CrunchGear and TechCrunch are hosting a special event tomorrow, April 30 (Wednesday) in San Francisco – a special screening of the movie Iron Man, two days before the official May 2 release.
We’ve rented out the largest theater we could find in the area – The AMC Metreon in San Francisco, which will hold 600 people. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the movie starts at 7:15 pm (you can arrive as early as 6:30).
If you’d like to come, you can purchase a ticket at EventBrite for $1 (the goal is to minimize no shows, which means empty seats). We will check your name against a list of registered attendees at the door.
Why are we doing this? Just to say thank you to our readers and encourage warm fuzzy, advertisement-clicking feelings in you all.
Details:
AMC Loews Metreon 16 with IMAX
101 4th St
San Francisco, CA 94103

Tickets
After the movie we’ll meet at the 4th Street Bar and Grill for drinks, unless you commenters have a better idea.

If there were a waiting list I’d put myself on it. Any hope for anyone who didn’t make the first 600
Too bad it wasn’t in my area and be it wasn’t a movie I was actually interested in seeing.
Thanks Michael, My son and I will be seeing Iron Man when it opens here in the hinterlands this week, we’ll have our own TC viewing in Alabama.
What is such a big fuss about Ironman, cmon GTA IV has released. GTA is much bigger thing
Hmmm, are we a little west coast biased here
I can recommend a great Boston theater…
I’m not going to be able to make it tonight now, but have a friend on the waiting list. Anyway I can transfer my ticket to him?
Here in Ecuador the official release of the movie is today!!! (You can check http://www.multicines.com.ec for details)
I’m about to finish my work and go out to enjoy it
