InvenSense has taken $19 million Series C in a round led by Sierra Ventures with previous investors Artiman Ventures, Partech International and Qualcomm Ventures also participating. Strategic investors in the round included Foxconn, Inventec Appliances Corp, Skylake Ventures, DoCoMo Capital and VentureTech Alliance.
Sunnyvale based InvenSense makes motion sensing solutions for mobile applications, addressing applications such as image stabilization, mobile navigation, location-based services and smart user interfaces that use hand motion and gesture-based commands
The funding will be used to “accelerate the next phase of company growth and evolve both the company business and product strategy.” Under the deail Ben Yu, managing director at Sierra Ventures, will join InvenSense’s board of directors.
The new round brings InvenSense’s total funding to $38 million.

scroll down the front page of techcrunch, you will see an annoying trend of these startups who have no graphic design knowledge whatsoever. ALL the logos look EXACTLY THE SAME, a cliche shape next to two words that are alternating colors.
Why should this company have graphic design knowledge? They specialize in motion sensing. It is a fundamental technology which doesn’t need knowledge in graphic design. This is still a nascent area. Many other services like location based services, image correction technology, mobile navigation systems etc etc will need this service. This is a promising area for investors.
The first thing they should do with that 19 million is hire me to redesign their crappy logo.
