In Saudi Arabia for example, MobiLuck's bluetooth detection and messaging software is a godsend for those wanting to flirt with each other without being seen (it's against the law for strangers of opposite sexes to meet in public). Having said that, I think that in general bluetooth proximity should be only be used as a 'bonus add-on' rather than the core of a truly global mobile social network. Good old mobile internet is the way to go, especially for the hundreds of millions of people around the world who have a mobile but no PC...
