		<description>&lt;a href="http://starsite.com/wall/" rel="nofollow"&gt;http://starsite.com/wall/&lt;/a&gt;

i just threw up this site for my friends and family (esp those NOT on the social network of the week).. where they could post, but more importantly, easily follow a topic/tag. They can click on a tag and bookmark the resulting page, click a name and subscribe to a feed from just that person, etc.

it's pretty new yet, but that's how i approached the problem. Time will tell if it 'sticks'

i also generate an rss feed of hand selected posts from a bunch of sources. As a 12 year systems admin and database developer, most of my friends/family trust my judgement in picking content for them. Saves them the trouble of having to find/follow a bunch of crap (ie. the problem)</description>

		<description>1.0 was about Find - Search - Google Wins

2.0 was about Filter - the RSS Problem/Opportunity - still not resolved

3.0 is about Social Graphs - the Social Feed Problem/ Opportunity - still not resolved

BTW, I blogged about this social feed problem 4 days ago - my graphic is better: http://www.blogs.dhenderson.com/David_Henderson/?p=324

And the attention saturation overload problem a couple of years ago:
