Blogging startup Six Apart launched BlogIt tonight, a Facebook blogging tool application that lets users quickly post to their blogs and then send notifications of the post to various social networks.
Use the tool to write a very basic blog post (no rich text or image uploading available yet), and then publish it to a supported platform – Typepad, LiveJournal, Vox, Wordpress (org/com), Moveable Type or Tumblr. By clicking one or more boxes, the title of a post and a link to it will be sent to Facebook, Twitter and/or Pownce as a status update.
The idea is to allow Facebook users to very quickly share something they like on their blog, without leaving Facebook. The application can be added here. Here’s a screen shot of the user interface, and a screencast of the product is immediately after the image:

More ways to NOT leave Facebook. Not as impressed about this as before. Maybe it the speed of the roll outs, too many to fast?
@Solacetech, I’m a little confused by your comment. While Blog It is a Facebook application, it allows you to create content outside of Facebook from within. When you blog, you’re posting to your blog outside of Facebook and then able to tell people you know about your post on Facebook, Twitter, and Pownce.
Nice…I’ve not been bothering much with Facebook precisely because it’s been so disconnected from my blog. Not sure this is *the* solution, but it definitely seems useful, and good that it supports all the major platforms.
@Solacetech.
Am confused too, are you not impressed because they covered as many services and launched it as fast as possible?
its almost impossible to please people now a days.. good thing prophets didn’t try to spread their religions in these times, no one would have bought their stories.
@Zizi — HMDWJG? (How many Diggs would Jesus Get?).
I like the idea of social network notification just being built into Movable Type, Wordpress, Blogger, etc — that’s a cool feature. Being able to send a quick blog from within Facebook is cute, but it’s the social network notification feature that seems (in this day and age) to be of high value.
Michael – It’s hard for small companies to get attention but we rolled out better functionality last week.

We use Facebook inbox for blog posting so there is no new app to install.
Nice efforts by TypePad for platform openness. Seems like a pretty cool combination with FriendFeed.
A useful one… helps facebook too, as it’s alledgedly fast becoming boring as hell…
Six Apart? Start Up? The company is atleast 5-6 years old now for Christ’s sake.
Oh…Let me clarify. The explosion of apps for Facebook is making my head spin. I love the fact that this particular one directs one away from Facebook but that’s 1 out of 100… Anything that desperately wants to be ultra sticky, makes me nervous…That’s just my opinion folks….
Michael – my comment is “under moderation”. Me flagged?
I wonder how Ping.fm feels now that a big boy has entered into their space.
Nice little feature. Easily duplicated. Wouldn’t invest any money in it.
MessageDance released blogging from Facebook inbox (and Gmail, YouTube, Amazon, Hotmail, iPhone — and more) to WordPress and Blogger last week. You don’t have to install a Facebook app to do this.
Neat.
WHile it doesn’t support rich text, you can use html tags.
My 2 cents. MessageDance uses FB’s message center itself (compose message) to send messages to any social destination and blog is one of them. Everytime blog post is made from Facebook (and many other clients we support). Also with “Anywhere to Anywhere blogging” idea, Blogger is in driver seat where he/she can decide how much they want to share with users and drive the traffic to their own blog.
It also supports rich media blogging where you can attach images and decide how you want to display them on your blog + video embed’s etc.
MessageDance makes blogging as easy as writing an email (from FB’s message center) rather than installing the app and then composing the blog.
I think that is more than 2 cents. I should stop.
Snipsr has been doing anywhere to anywhere social network posts for a few months now, albeit no rich text editor.
I just got done installing and testing this application. I am extremely impressed! Most importantly i’m glad it doesn’t add it’s own brand promotion right before my status update (as does the fb twitter app.)
I’m a movable type user and it took me a while to find my ‘web services password’ so if anyone is wondering where, click your user name at the top-right of your admin dashboard, and click the appropriate profile. it’s there.
p.s. seconds after i sent out an update, i was alerted that Jason Calacanis is following me on twitter! haha i don’t know why
I just tested it out. It’s convenient, but it does some unpredictable things if you’re already using Facebook as a platform (that is, if your blog posts and tweets are already integrated with Facebook via the Notes and Twitter app).
I guess it’s nice for posting on the fly, but I don’t see it becoming a part of my everyday — or even weekly — blogging routine.
Sounds basically like the need that Twitter is out to fulfill. I like it though, cuz with this you get the twitter feel in one place for your existing web 2.0 area – dont need to have a separate twitter…
thanks
@Brain we’ve definitely taken a look at how we can make Blog It smarter when you’re using Notes or the Twitter app. Unfortunately we can’t check if a user has another application installed, so we can’t automatically do “the smart thing”. We’ll be working on this down the road to see if we can better integrate Blog It with other aspects of Facebook.
Or I could just write my blog post inside Wordpress and notify other services through simple plugins like WordBook and Twitter Tools.
Yes, but what about a Facebook app that will take a public feed (yes, public, ie RSS) and transform it into a status update?
Seems obvious. Seems not to exist.
hi nice post, i enjoyed it
Interestingly was, but there is someone who does not quite agree with the author?
Hm that sounds good but I would like to know more details.
Your news is a cool stuff man, keep it going.
That’s good man, keep it going.
Good story for me but please more details.
