AllYouCanUpload Slips Quietly Into Deadpool

AllYouCanUpload, the registration-free image hosting site with few restrictions, has quietly been taken down. The site was launched in May 2006 by CNET without much fanfare, but was praised for shedding the bandwidth limits seen on other photo sites like Photobucket and ImageShack. The site was part of the Webshots photo service, which was sold by CNET to American Greetings in October 2007.

The site has apparently been shut down for over a week. It offers no explanation for the departure, but it is likely tied to the change of ownership. It appears that images that have already been posted to the site will remain available for the time being.

AllYouCanUpload has been added to the Deadpool.

…another one bites the dust!

Photo sharing needs a better business model to cover storage and bandwidth. See http://www.framechannel.com which enables users to mix photos with commercial content based on their own preferences, the commercial content includes a new mechanism for in home advertising.

I would had been a fan if I’ve heard about it earlier.

Is it possible to filter out these stories? I don’t really care about sites failing because I’m never going to see them again. I want to know about new, interesting sites… that’s what TC is all about!

Well, the domain is now redirected (was for a minute) to http://www.webshots.com so something is happening!

had i known earlier, i woulda used it.

I used this site quite a bit, it will be missed.

Ignore #3@Hendra.

Deadpools are WHY I’m coming to Techcrunch every day.

Damn I’m an idiot..I meant #4 Slimy.

it was a great service…
i’ll miss it.

I just clicked on the link in the RSS feed and the site is still there. It doesn’t look dead to me.

I just tried to get it from my history from my browser and now I can’t get there. WTF?

Any alternatives to this awesome service?

Yeahh umm I have this symbiotic relationship with that website…and now that it’s down I need, well does anyone know of a website similar to it?
