Tonight’s TechCrunch MeetUp in LA co-hosted with PopSugar is sold out. For the 2,000 of you coming (and 500 on the wait list), here are the final details that you need to know.
MySpace will be spinning MySpace Music artists for us all night, they’re bringing in celebrity DJ Perry Ferrell for a special appearance. PopSugar will be making special announcements this evening. And we’re excited that dating site Engage will be launching their new online “social media” product at tonight’s event—be sure to check it out.
For those of you who can’t be with us, please check out official event photos at: www.picapp.com. We will be posting them this evening following the event. If anyone posts photos or videos to Flickr, please tag them techcrunchmeetup12.
Also thank you to Brian Solis and the Bub.blicio.us team for giving us the red-carpet treatment at this evening’s event (check out tomorrow’s post for video highlights.) Before the event, between 2:30 and 5:30 PM, Solis is also helping me out with a project to capture the best elevator pitches on video from attending CEOs and founders. If you want to give us your pitch, it’s still not to late. (Send an email to brian [at] future-works or tips [at] techcrunch).

$10 says this ends up being a Sausage Fest.
But Ryan look at all the animated chicks in the Pop Sugar drawing.
No it will be guys standing on one side of the room with all the girls on the other side…you know like back in the day at junior high dances with the occasional guy growing balls and actually asking a girl to dance.
But luckily for the guys attending if the girls from the PopSugar crowd are anything like my Wife (PopSugar addict by the way) they have no problem starting conversations.
This looks like it will be fun. If you do it again I’m flying cross-country to attend.
Judging by the confirmed guests on facebook it looks like the PopSugar crowd might even outnumber the TechCrunch crowd.
based on the facebook event attendees, i think there may actually be less men than women. will be an interesting event, that’s for sure.

I’m pretty excited about this, it should be really fun. See you there!
I’m still in Canada. I cancelled my flight for tomorrow to LAX, and rebooked to SFO this coming Wednesday for the last day of Adtech. This conference is way too close to Adtech for me.
Summary, I’m waiting for Adtech instead. Besides I have to meet my client Augusto there.
Thanks for the details Chris. You forgot to say what you are having for dinner tonight, and what your favorite color is.
PROTIP: Get email addresses of ticket buyers so you don’t have to post directions on your blog.
wank wank wank…

AKA the “Ask Jeeves” method.
Hope no one booked American to fly in for the event. Summary of your experience if you did:
1) flight cancelled
2) rebooked on United
3) flight delayed
4) delayed again
5) flight cancelled (United was horrible last few days too, take my word)
6) comp hotel room in city 1100 miles from event, where you can check Flikr for pictures of what you’re missing.
Advice: take the train
This will be my first event in this space, I’m from a purely music background but have a huge interest in all things technology. Looking forward to it, I can’t get there until 10pm… will I be missing all the good stuff? : )
#7 did you mistake this blog post for your twitter account?
Flew all the way from Australia and didn’t get a ticket. C- eBayer would not recommend.
@Andy, you should’ve bought the ticket first.
LOL #7
Looking forward to tonight. I’ve got my (un)lucky black Stage6 shirt on “in memory of.” See everyone there!
Andy - really? I mean, really? you flew here without a ticket and then you give us a C- rating? I don’t think we can keep you on as a reader any longer.
Mike, Vanguard is the worst club in town. who picked that and can you please email me next time so i cant get you a great venue at no charge? Email me at 1daysports@gmail and i will set it up within 48 hours.
Michael - well, no - I am over from Australia though. You can hook me up with one if you want.
Sure feels good to be a TC event sponsor, all of them seem to be getting a lot of attention… picapp, dimdim and engage… lol.. talk about payperpost.. this is classic paid per post.
“we’re excited that dating site Engage”
Really, Engage the first social media dating site… since when is a dating site so socially media’ish
I think I will take my TI89, you know to “impress the ladies”
Just came back from the MeetUp. Well, what can I say? Too much Pop and not enough Crunch. I’m not even sure what that means but I guess what I’m trying to say is that it wasn’t all that. Got meet Mike and surprisingly he was kinda nice and DJ Ferrell was awesome but the event was just okay. Definitely over hyped. Mike - stick to tech news not tech parties.
jason - first of all, there are a lot of worse clubs in town. I know. I’ve been to them all in the last 10 years.
mertz - secondly, the event was great! Put a nice LA spin on what is often a room full of geeks. At least this way (PopSugar) there were lots of pretty people without pocket protectors.
Loads of fun and productive as well.
Would be happy to sponsor if you do one here again.
Back from party. wiped out, even though as usual at our parties i didn’t have a drop of alcohol. so many great startups. thanks for coming, everyone!
Hollywood meetup review - the club next door to the Vanguard had 500 people in line ready to party Thursday night away.

“as usual at our parties i didn’t have a drop of alcohol”
Ah, so Mike’s a pure coke and ecstacy man. Doesn’t want to mix his downers with his uppers. Very sensible.
party was totally cool. great event arrington.
i really hate how people give him a hard time when he busts his ass. he doesn’t need to do this. his passion is sexy and fun. i’m glad he goes to the effort.
hats off.
You have the wrong link for efactor. It should read http://www.efactor.com
Please change this. Thanks!

if you want to see the pictures!!!
some sexy ladies in there… (sugar girls)
Michael,
Great event last night! I was actually amazed and pleased by the high number of women in attendance. I think the dating site has a good idea, but the site itself needs some more work.
I LOVED Farrell as the dj. He was awesome. I danced most of the night and made a few connections. Being the owner of a Gaming Community, I didn’t exactly fit in 100% but the people I spoke with were awesome and I had a great time.
I hope to meet more people at future events. Personally, I would love to see a mentorship program or day where those of us just starting companies can pick some people’s brains. ^_^
Have a great day and thank you again!

Is it true that people were escorted out of the party for having some sort of disagreements with Arrington at one time or another?
I don’t think that is the classy way to handle things, and certainly not what the Buddha would do.
I guess I don’t know the whole story, just sayin’, be the bigger man.
Tag yourself!!
