Does finding an item for sale really need to be as painful and teadious process as sites like Craig's make it? I would much rather cruise around a well-planned, though out, and easy-on-the-eyes classified website like Oodle.com, zumThing.com, or Vast any day.

It seems that the only reason Craig is doing so well is due to the popularity contest that he appears to be winning, not becuase the website is superior and offers great classified searching tools, but because people just know to look there... and eventually after hours of digging through posts and hastacks tend to find what they were looking for ( a needle perhaps).

I guess I'm not one to settle. Just my two cents...

The Craig's List Blog is a joke. It's a one-sided rant. I posted a comment with an opposing view and they moderated it off the comments.

Since the free online classified is getting popular, many business owners are seeking every single free marketing channel to help boost the sale, http://www.boxforyou.com is another free classifieds site like craigslist, allow you to buy & sell new or used goods, look for a car or job, find local events… promote your business, and you can do it all for free!

Craigslist is about content not style: that's the whole point, no? I think the format and look is fitting for the brand, which relays a no no-nonsense, been-here-forever-taking-care-of-business attitude. Good work.

Craiglists design appears to be stuck in 1995. And their blog follows right along.

I appreciate a minimalist approach, but that doesn't mean it has to be ugly or without "basic functions" (rss? hello?). Sad...
