The MMOG is a role playing game focused on social interaction and object manipulation. Game Neverending is said to be “lighthearted and humorous” with no way to win or no given definition of success.

@Neal-- back in 2002/2003 when it was first released-- it was a bit of groundbreaking. From the in game chatter, sounded like it will not be turned back on, but that they are open to someone wanting to re-write the baby..

And Again, the game is gone...
It was great fun while it lasted- we can only hope that it will revive again in the near future.
I vote the Flick'r team as having the best AFD bit on the web...

I think this thing was way ahead of its time (from 2002) and was quite fun to play yesterday, it has a lot of fun ideas. I recall being rather disappointed with myself when I missed the beta sign-up period back then.

You have to be signed in to Flickr to play, and I don't see a link to the game on the front page. So sign in and then reload the game URL.

I'm intrigued by the description and appreciate that this virtual world is urban/suburban rather than the typical fantasy land of most MMOs. There still seems to be an awful lot of grinding required, but I guess I should spend more time chatting with the others in the world to figure out how to advance faster.

After playing it for 10 min, I'd say it's mildly entertaining so far. Don't see where it's particularly groundbreaking yet.

"whats the motivation for playing if I can´t win ? Strange game concept…"

there are goals you can reach, points to earn, items and places to discover.

it was no more or less of a point than say, World of Warcraft. you can't "win" that one either.

Nitpick: The prototype ended Jan 31st, 2003. The beta was launched later in 2003. Flickr was launched December 2003 and mid-2004, GNE was shut down.

What they've made live now is an instance of the prototype.

The game project looks nice for social interaction but the success truly depends on the quality of game, I think people would be interested in playing light game.
