YouTube Rape Victim Arrested

The victim of an alleged rape that made worldwide headlines after footage was posted to YouTube, has been arrested on suspicion of underage sex and perverting the course of justice after it was discovered that the rape was fake.

According to The Register, the 24-year-old mother was arrested on March 28 and released on bail. The alleged rapists, aged 14 and 16, are now unlikely to face charges.

The video led to calls for YouTube to manually check all videos being uploaded to the site, with British MPs targeting YouTube over the incident. Adam Price MP said following the initial outrage that the video “surely shows [YouTube’s] system is completely inadequate.” The fake rape video had 600 views before being pulled by Google.

    600 views? I’d say that’s evidence the system -does- work. It could have easily several orders of magnitude more.

    She does not understand how hard she makes it for REAL Victims.

    Many women have their stories doubted because of incidents like this that backfires when there is massive publicity and it turns out to be false

    Yes the fakers need to be thrown in a lion pit and let survival of the fittest take place.

    But 600 views? Come on Duncan - everyone knows that is NOTHING. This is the internet. I expected TC to take the logical stance that this is a huge over-reaction toward YouTube.

    My father was a cop, and so were several other family members and loads of family friends. Growing up in that atmosphere I tend to look at the world a little differently :-)

    While I didn’t think it was a fake, I *did* think, “What is she doing having drinks with neighborhood teens in the first place?” (as was reported when the story initially broke). Not to say teenage boys are above drugging a woman, but if you’re in your 20’s with kids, what are high school students doing drinking in your home? There was something funny about the story, and now we know why.

    The british Government only want to filter the content of the likes of YouTube to limit the freedom of information. Next they will want to filter our emails and browsing habits.

    5% of rapists brought to court actually get prosecuted. This doesn’t even count women who don’t go to the police or cases that don’t make it to court

    And THIS is what the media covers… fan-f*ckin’-tastic priorities
