Episode 143 of Diggnation: Hosts Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht announce the sale of Revision3 to Fox News at about the 2:05 mark. Rose says “Well, ah, we basically have a big announcement for everyone. Revision3 has been acquired by a bigger company. We’ll be moving to Fox News.” He added “I’m thinking of getting a fox tattoo, its kinda part of my signing bonus, if i do it i get a little extra money.”
It’s an early (very early) April Fool’s joke, of course. Jump to the 3:45 mark. They are clearly playing off a story from two weeks ago, spread quickly via a credulous Robert Scoble Twitter message, that CNET had acquired Revision3 for $58 million.
The company was founded in April 2005 and has raised $9 million in funding.

congrats !
for that good try
I have to say this had me for a bit when I was watching last night, but the second Alex said he would be moving to the mac the massive penny dropped.
April Fools… on March 30th???? Fool on them, no?
An excellent joke- too bad Alex couldn’t keep a straight face for more than a second though.
Seems early for a Revision3 sale, but I expect Digg to be announcing something in the next six months…I’m not sure they know where to go from here other than sell it.
The quality of the Digg community has dropped dramatically in the last 12 months and continues to spiral downwards. I guess that’s the price of a bigger audience…you end up catering to the lowest common denominator. Just look at the comments on any popular youtube video. Unbelievable.
April Fool Joke
Now, how many people will jump based on the title of your post alone?
Complete BS. Revision3 is worth the salary of those two guys… not a penny more.
Fox? Of all the companies hah. They could try better next time.
Rose is a douchebag.
DanceJam & now this crappy writing?…
BSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs
funny, yet predictable
wow the guy on the left is a huge doush
I can’t believe you actually watch this crap. its like dumb and dumber Dude!
You do cover some rubbish don’t you mike ? , perhaps you should leave the reporting to the other writers. As all you seem to write about is rubbish.
Seriously , this article is sooo funny and really fooled me NOT.
I completely agree with number 9!! Why is the tech industry so “IN LOVE” with Digg and Kevin Rose. Silicon Valley is turning into traditional radio and TV in the sense that they are trying to create a few tech stars and leave everyone else out in the cold.. I cant believe how the industry just pushes revision3 like its the second coming. I know several ONLINE content providers that were creating and distributing content YEARS before Revision 3 was even thought of. They have 9million in funding and that is the best they can do!!! Abstract10.com has been around for a decade creating content with our own money, but all you hear about is Kevin Rose and Digg. This is starting to show the pure racism in Silicon Valley. How come I never ever ever see any write ups about minority (black) owned tech companies getting funded or acquired.. maybe everyone is too busy riding Kevin Rose’s jock strap..!
You have no idea how scared I was when I saw this headline in my RSS feed.
Damn you TechCrunch. I watched the first 2 minutes of this and my heart sank.
FOX NEWS??? ugh!!! Screw that…. I would be a EX Revision 3 fan….
But alas, they got me… [blank stare]. THANK GOD it’s an April’s Fool Joke! A$$es!!!

yeh MIKE , lets see you write about minority startups every once in a while. Don’t go telling me that there arent any Black, Asian or non white netrepreneurs
It’s too early for April Fools!
Why do they talk about acquisition so much?
Y’all got me! I thought it was for real… Even after they said april fool I was a little bit skeptical…. Yes I know Fox news was odd, but hey … if the money is there they can follow. And I was just about to stop watching diggnation because I know it was going to be Fox’s style.
But hey, Good one!

early indeed - at least wait till the 31st to pull off an april fool’s joke
interest
Wow there is a lot of hate towards Kevin on this one. This was a pretty decent but obvious april fools joke. I think they did it early because if it was the day of then who would have believed it for a second.
I liked the jawbone ad at the end of that episode. I dont really need a headset, but Id probably get one after seeing that ad if I wanted one
Kevin Rose makes an April Fools joke and this is top news? I’m confused, is the news part that
Rev3 may have been sold or that Kevin Rose is a human with a sense of humor?
Had never heard of Revision3 networks…checked it out..not bad. A niche net network(lets call it a NNN play). You have to ask yourself, can this type of offering be successful? Because it’s a NNN play it doesnt really appeal 2 the masses..if it doesnt appeal 2 the masses how can it generate any revenue?
lol it’s just letters bro.
I’m glad this is a joke.
Faux News = Neocon Propaganda.
The level of stupidity in the comments worries me about the readers of TechCrunch. I thought we might be slightly smarter than the typical digg crowd with their highly original “Faux News” and calls of “Neocon Propaganda”. They can’t seem to wrap their heads around why CNN and MSNBC lose out to viewership count every night to Fox News.
Dump indeed!
meh…
@Skeptical Dude
Hey dillwad. Fox News is 90% editorial. It just so happens you don’t like their editorials. Get over it.
here’s to Fair & Balanced… drinking.
Ka-ching! Ka-ching!
Congrats to Revision3!
I’ll admit they had me fooled for a second, but I semi doubted it was true. The next rumor should be that they sell Best Buy.
Why hate, just because Kevin is better than you - although other shows like the GigaOm are just plain crap and i go sleep and hit the big red button.

I would laugh if it actully happened
lol @ episode 143…
I cannot believe all of you babies who are crying and whining about the possibility that Fox News would acquire Revision3. You are like a bunch of 5 year olds. Grow up already. I’m guessing that you’re all from San Fransisco.
And BTW, the first indication that this as a joke was the fact that they said Fox News and not News Corp (or Fox Interactive Media). Fox News would not acquire anybody.
