I was just looking at a 3D web browser that is already available for free download. It looks like what you showed for pogo. It’s called spacetime http://www.spacetime.com I watched the demo video and it looks like it could be useful for certain types of applications. Don’t have a review to offer as my computer video card doesn’t meet the min. systems requirements.

This looks an awful lot like a MS Vista experience… and I’m not sure why I’d want that baked into a browser. Actually, I’m still not sure I want windows flying around the screen in my OS either.

it is hard to innovate in a company like microsoft or att. Not only do you have to overcome lots of bullshit inside of companies, you also have to take lots of bullshit outside of companies just based on where you are from.

most radical UI innovations are often pioneered by these type of products, and the rest of us pick out ideas and blend it with our own, mainly conventional UI. Which is of course, what works

On the bright side: At least trying to produce a new paradigm of interaction for the mass market. Think about other applications.

Not so bright side: Could be slow, offsetting visibility dividend.

Null debate: “Always on” ads vs. tin cup. It’s a subjective decision, as you can ignore both. And mega-corps will be mega-corps…

I don’t see this as a replacement for a web browsing experience at all. I see this as using a web browser to possibly create a new type of interface experience for products and services. They are in the Internet access, TV, Music, and Telephone business. Mix this with a touchscreen like the Microsoft system, and it could be fun!

I’ll be fine with it if it uses existing browser technology (say, the Mozilla engine), and really does just extend it beyond that to add some 3D presentation. I will be very angry , however, if a single page I’ve developed has to be recoded because it’s ‘not compatible with Pogo’. Arrggghh.

I love this browser. And of course I will use it and junk my annoying and intrusive Firefox in a heart beat.

I love that they figured out how to make a browser pay with ads, too, that doesn’t bother me, open source like Mozilla just endlessly puts out the tin cup and it’s as boring as a telethon on educational television.

If they put social media or a virtual world in it to connect others on the same browser, even more cool.

i like the idea of it! its akin to working with folders on your desktop, just more visual. if they can pull it off right it could be used as an operating system for the internet. just wish it didnt have ads. :/

and the globe in the video isnt the browser, it’s something else. no pogo toolbars were vizible there. like uber slick 3d flash.
