I've downloaded IE7 and EI8 2x and only to uninstall it hours later or less. In short they both suck! I hate the way they look and feel, you can configure it they way you can with IE6. So for now I will stay with IE6. When somebody makes something that is as user friendly and asteticly appealing as IE6 then I will swich.

I am wondering if Opera is any good, I hate Firefox and Crome with the whole tab thing, very frustrated at this point.

IE 6 is simpler, cleaner, and without significant security problems when used with security-related programs that are inexpensive and user-friendly. I also find IE6 easier to control re
elements such as customization of toolbars.
I have signed petitions to protect and preserve IE6.
Programmers are clever and knowledgeable. Right? I will tell you who I feel sorry for. People who made the mistake of downloading IE 7 or 8 !!
Thank you for this opportunity to sound off.
P l e a s e consider those of us who are in need of simplicity, readability, and the speed that comes of keeping things clean and free of unwanted
"improvements" that often are nothing more than
disguised -- or undisguised -- advertisements.

Erick, this is such a great article. I appreciate you for writing this. When you get a chance check out this document we created. We developed this to help users take to their companies.
IE7 is a big pile of junk. its unstable, difficult to use and frankly ugly.

firefox isnt much better, My firefox widow has 400 tabs along the window I cant close/

brilliant,

at least ie6 works,
I think devs forget that really, nobody want or needs flash, java or all the other addon crap. 99% of users want to get to wiki, Google and ebay.

Would you happen to have that code handy? I've just designed a website using RapidWeaver and the only browser it doesn't look the same is with IE6. I would love to be able to insert that code onto each page, yet don't know how (I'm very new to web design) Thanks for your time!

Im a multimedia student and my dad uses IE6 yes thats right I can give you an insight into the type of people that stick with IE6.

-He has Windows 2000

-A very old comp

-And doesnt like spending money on his comp to upgrade it.

-Has absolutley no space on his comp

-His main reason is because he has no space and says he would upgrade if he had more space.

-Strangley enough he knows a lot of computers but his comp is stuck in the 90's.

IE6 users are probly like my dad or people who arent confident with computers.

I said to him once dont get a lot of websites that show up buggy on youre browser and he said not really.

The solution? Well the more people that make their site incompatible with IE6 the better and the more they will finally do something about it. This can only really happen with major company sites that these people pretty much would only visit like yahoo, google, msn, ebay etc.

IE6 users are either lazy, poor or stuck in the 90's.
It's not really fair on web programmers to put up with it and they have to spend so much time trying to make it work on all browsers.

Like my lecturer says the browsers should had come together to agree on an agreed set of rules so that a structure is in place so that web programmers can have a structure from which they can work within but they couldent agree on anything. And we have been paying for it since.

To support this cause, as a webdesigner I wasted my last 6 hours coding for IE6.

I even created a project on google code to spare the time of web developers that are in the same situation.

http://code.google.com/p/ie6-upgrade-warning/

Check it out, I think it's a great idea.
