Car Advisory Network Takes $6.5 Million Series A
by Duncan Riley on March 17, 2008

can.jpgCar Advisory Network has taken $6.5 million Series A in a round that included Accel Partners and Greylock Partners.

Seattle based Car Advisory Network operates TheCarConnection.com, a “source for news and reviews, spy shots and shopping guides, tips and expert advice” on cars. The site also operates several email lists and publishes the “Weekly Car Guide.”

A company listing at IVC-Online notes that Car Advisory Network is “developing a next generation network media platform in the auto industry,” was established in April 2007 (TheCarConnection.com was founded in 1997), has five employees and is currently in “stealth mode.”

  • probably a social network for cars.

  • It is so sad that they can not even put a proper “title”.

  • not as bad as them looking for developers with only 1-2 years experience.

ha…they took the web site down and replaced it with a landing page.

guess they were only kinda stealth…

  • it’s a ‘me-too’ site, nothing really special about it

might as well give the VC cash to MotorTrend or CarandDriver, to make their site very “web 2.0″

  • @2. I was wondering what you are talking about, but then visited the site and
saw it myself. Man, you get a $6.5M funding and you can’t put a title on your launch page. To me it would look like another 16 year old coder start up.

  • That’s a lot of negative feedback from the skeptics- but has anyone bothered to see who is behind this organization? 3 of the “5 employees” look like pedigree executives from across the industry- COO from edmunds, CTO from yahoo!, CEO has launched 2 Internet startups successfully before…
Nor would Greylock or Accel casually throw $6+ mil behind a lame me-too idea. I bet we’ll see something rather impressive

  • Do we have names on the CTO / COO? I didn’t see them mentioned in the article.
