Smartest business deal I've seen in a while. Y! sent my roomy off to SXSW with an amusing setup of hobbled gear and technology to do just this. My comment before she left? Y! should just buy Qik or Justin.tv. Now it appears they should by both if they really want to succeed.

Cheers to Justin.tv and Qik for a smart partnership that actually makes sense.

Much greater is to see Qik video streams directly on a mobile phone. I can do it by mashing up Qik and dailyme.tv. In the future Qik will send a Realvideo stream directly to users' cell phones. The phone will not only be a camera for mobile live video streams, but also a tv set to watch them.

Justin.tv where smart to do this and Qik is more reliable than JTV's service combined with Laptop and With a EVDO card and a Cam and far less cumbersome to carry around .

Qik works with Nokia phones the most notable is the N95 from Nokia and is far less invasive that the JTV hatcams .

^ I can only imagine there'd be an umbrella clause since everything is in real time. For archived clips perhaps a release?

Excellent example of two complementing services joining together. I imagine that this will reduce the need for cheezy camera hats which may cause make the unscrupulous bystander a bit nervous.

On a side note Duncan, do you know if Justin.tv has a standardized release-form that its users can print for their respective shows?

HoHo, this is what happens when a group of people who have an edge start to lose it and hold on to old standards, not wanting to change/adapt.

I hope TC understands that its users are its power and it has to be leveraged somehow, by also giving them even more power - why not have an applet for users to submit relevant news stories to TC, so that TC crew selects the juiciest ones and write about them soon after they get out - of course, in addition to what they get from their network of contacts?
