Oh wow, that’s brutal. Scoble’s like that leftover food that you put in the fridge 8 months ago, and now it smells so bad that you’re afraid to throw it out because you know it’s going to smell so bad, so you just leave it there. That’s why he’s still on the internet.

Nearly missed this one. The Robert Scoble run FastCompany.TV has launched with more Scoble, more often. In the intro video above Scoble explains what he has planned for the site, complete with a beach scene that is straight out of a daytime soap opera….

This doesn’t sound like a very well thought through project. I also found the welcome video excruciating to watch. Scoble really has a great head for radio and comes across very amateur hour on video. I would have thought that the viewing audience would be more interested in the content of his videos than of Scoble himself. This wil be interesting to watch (in the sense of seeing how long it lasts).

Chris your right; moreover Scoble knows it’s crappy video, he states that it is not of high quality and can be tough to watch in his Welcome Video.

So my question is: If you know it’s crappy video and that it’s tough to watch, why make the cell phone videos so long?

Ah ok. But whats the point of ‘LIVE’ video - only a select few people would ever see it ‘LIVE’ and then it’d most likely be archived for viewing by the ‘rest of us’. Seems like a lot of messing about for a small impact and in the end you end p with shit video. If the whole premise of the site is to produce and deploy quality video programming then surely using mobile phones for the task is a bit of an ‘under-kill’ (is that a word?). Or am I missing the point?

I’ve been waiting for an update on fastcompany.tv or rather scobleizertv. I had made a post earlier today on fastcompany.tv about Robert Welcoming me to the site and his long drawn out explanation of what he had planned.

I made a note that I wasn’t impressed and it would take a lot more for me to come back to the website.

Scoble seems to be micro-monitoring posts as it was only (5) minutes before he posted a comment to my comment. In it he describes the “Must See” videos then a description of other content.

So I took the time to watch what he had described in so many words as a must see video (John Kao - “Innovator”). I think Corey’s post describes it best “He is horrible on camera. Just horrible.”

Not to mention no visual display of how long the video is (…felt like days); crappy up-close shots of Roberts face…nobody needs to see Robert Scobles face that close-up. Information pollution the way I see it.

The cell video is ‘live’ (his Nokia N95 via Qik.com), which has only been possible since … last November I believe. As far as I know, you can’t broadcast ‘live’ from a hard-drive based HD video cam - at least not while you’re mobile, via WiFi/Cell tower connections. If so, I’d love to know about it.

You have to wonder why Scoble chooses to shoot on crappy mobile phones when there are plenty of small, inexpensive, hard-drive based HD cameras on the market. Is he short of cash or just trying to be GenY-ish?
