It was only a script in the beginning, PhpAds. Then one some smart guy continued the effort with PhpAdsNew. PhpAdsNew has been a great open source ad server for years. That was followed by the more improved branch, Max Media Manager.

As a user of all versions of the script, I have to admit that OpenAds was a great step towards being a more professional business, with a professional web site, logo and a brand new name. "Open Ads" has been a nice rebranding effort, and the community liked it.

But the name change from OpenAds to OpenX is certainly not a smart move. Really not.

OpenAds is terrible , they need to start over. I love TC but I'd wager their ad campaigns are relatively simplistic compared to other publishers.

Of course when you get as much traffic as TC you don't really need to do much to rake it in hand over fist and get advertiser attraction.

I hope $20,500,000 and an AOL CEO mean these good people will release 3.0 fairly quickly, because 2.4 is BUGGY.

#10, use K-Meleon or Firefox with Adblock and you won't see no ads.

BTW, I wonder whose idea is to change a great name like OpenAds to OpenX? Instead of a name, that clearly tells what the product is about, use a random letter to describe your product. How about OpenH or OpenL? Or maybe OpenWhat? Though I have a suspicion that guy was formerly employed by a certain corporation, where such practices are not uncommon.

Well, TC has really put Openads to the test. I mean really, how many more ads can you put on this site?

The tag line says "take control of your advertising" ....

This sentence reminds me when i used to get spam mails saying "take control of your penis".

I agree with no.3 that this name sounds more like a porn site. :P
