I wouldn’t be expecting too much out of this.
If it really was that big, it would already be all over the internet.

My guess is that it’s just a promo for Silverlight 2.0 and its new IDE in VS2008.. That dude crying is probably involved in a demo project and cannot wait to show it to the world or something

when i first read the word ‘forge’ i thought… is this microsoft’s version of sourceforge?

such a move, imo, would be aligned with microsoft’s strategy when it comes to open source, and their recent open source license…

time will tell…

I reckon they’ve stumbled upon a somebody else’s idea and have beautifully re-engineered (stolen) it in a way that they hope will become the next phase of consumer lock-in, but in “friendlier capitalism” way.

Well let’s see…

…it could be a new version of the Windows operating system that only works within Silverlight. Since I’m on the subject, perhaps all other operating systems will work through Silverlight as well.

…it could be some device that predicts your future and show it to you.

…it could be a better Kindle device with much better visuals

…it could be a rival to Amazon’s S3 storage

…it could be that developers can write code once and deploy it on any platform.

heck, I don’t know as I’ve run out of ideas. Fun guessing though.

Interesting though is how MS has managed to leverage Scoble to get their viral marketing accomplished for them – again. From the marketing side it is free PR to generate lots of hype. Wonder whatever they are hyping will be worth the hype when revealed.
