Nokia Plays Nice With Google In Mobile Search

Nokia is partially embracing Google by agreeing to put Google’s mobile search on some of its phones. It already ships phones with mobile search from Yahoo and Microsoft, so this isn’t that big a deal. But it does show that as Nokia prepares to compete with Google-based Android phones, the cell phone leader will incorporate some basic Google functionality into its own phones as a preemptive move.
It is also a matter of choice. Google has so much loyalty among searchers that not including its mobile search on Nokia phones might be seen by some customers as a disservice. In any case, Nokia’s strategy is to provide search from multiple sources based on location and application (local search, map search, Web search, community search, news search).
It will be Interesting to see how Microsoft competes with Android , as Android is open source, and look whats happened with regard to Linux and Windows

Here’s another update, T-Mobile inked a deal with Yahoo! This comes only a day after Starbucks dumped them for AT&T….

Nokia is playing nice because as the article inferred, they don’t have much choice. I wonder what customers would say if the only search option was msn or yahoo for that matter… like it or not, Google is now the new STANDARD in online search.

Well, I think especially map search is useful feature.

It would be a nice fusion. The Google search engine will join Yahoo and Windows Live, which are already offered.

Well all I can say is I hope they release it soon, I want Google from the standby screen search on my Nokia N82. MSN and Yahoo is all I have available. Although I did find this article with the Yahoo search provider.
