Greetings,
My name is Earl and I am new to this forum. I hope, I am posting in the right section, and I apologize in advance, if I posted in the wrong place,
moderators, please move this post accordingly.
Few months ago, I stumbled upon information about
investment programs, that are rarely published on
official investment resources. The yields, which one could
receive by participating in such private clubs, looked
surprisingly high at
first, but as I searched more feedbacks about them, I could not pass on the opportunity. Guess what, today, I consider
myself to become the successful
investor. To
share my findings, I
made available the blog, which
is always updated with detailed information
about current investment funds. You can see my current picks, follow this URL.
I would be happy to receive
everyone's feedbacks.

@Dhamaji: I understand your concern on your first look at the image grid. However, we have given a lot of thought to our security versus traditional passwords, and the fruits of our labor can be found on our CTO's blog here: http://scott.blomqui.st/2007/10/09/the-hard-faqs-about-vidoop/. Be sure to check out the "isn't the secret categories like a 3-character password" question. I hope this helps.

@DotComGuy: Both the Firefox and IE plugin allow you to store your passwords in a securely encrypted local file that never is seen by myVidoop servers. We acknowledge that storing passwords locally is always more secure than keeping them on a server, but we leave this choice of security vs. convenience in the hands of our users for each of their passwords. Passwords are stored locally by default, but if you're having trouble figuring it out be sure to check out our help videos: https://myvidoop.com/videos/new-open-passwords-file#new-open-passwords-file. If you do choose to save them online, rest assured that your sensitive data is encrypted on our servers and is never seen by any Vidoop employees.

"Not being from either Silicon Valley or Cambridge, these guys can’t possibly know anything about developing secure software."

I know, don't feed the trolls, but....

the above quotation is a statement from a complete asshat. Ever heard of Carnegie Mellon? Or any number of other great edu institutions?

Go look at the FIPS 140 certifications list. Not all companies are from your two suggested areas of the country.

Ignorance couched in elitism. Douchebag.

DotComGuy:

It's entirely possible to store your passwords on your local machines instead of syncing them with Vidoop. Just a matter of checking a box or not.

I've been using this site since TechCrunch first featured it and have to say I've been surprised by how well it's worked. I log into the site every time I open Firefox. I think the site needs some improvement in the way they store passwords.

I'm not an expert but I think they're storing passwords in their database. I would rather they store a value that uses a key stored locally on my computer to prevent some disgruntled myvidoop DBA from viewing my user names and passwords. Perhaps someone can explain why this should not be a concern.

Other than that, I love it! It's great for keeping track of all the beta sites I sign up for.

Vidoop’s authentication scheme is garbage. My jailbroken _iPhone_ has enough computing power to be able to able to hack this grid in under 20 minutes just by twittering the images to all my friends for distributed category identification. FAIL, chief!

Not being from either Silicon Valley or Cambridge, these guys can't possibly know anything about developing secure software. Everyone knows that this year's wave in security development defeats keystroke logging, brute force, phishing, pharming, man in the middle, social engineering, reverse social engineering, security questions, CAPTCHA, banner ads, password resets, user-generated content, pantone color matching, alchemy, and attack by boiling oil.

The next thing you know, they'll be publishing some self-serving quasi-academic research (endorsed by one of the presidential front-runners) that disses their competitors' whored out commercial authentication schemes.

this is interesting. potential problems i can think of:

1) too cumbersome - people are lazy, i don't want to have to type in a password each time i go to a site (especially one i have to "figure out") - it slows me down! that's the appeal of 'remember me' or password managers.

2) what's the bandwidth implication of sending all those images over the wire each time someone tries to log in? certainly a slower experience for the end user, no matter who pays for the pipe.

3) they plan on monetizing logins by putting ads in some of the pictures. that seems like it could get annoying real fast.

but still, neat idea. if they can actually pull this off and make money from it, that'd be impressive.

Great to see this taking off. I've been following Vidoop for a while. I have my own account, though I had to write down the categories of images I chose - I guess I don't use it enough to properly train myself.

Pictures ... why not? Anything on the web right now is related to visual. So lets make the login more visual.
Nice idea and good luck. It will nice if we must sing to login. In this case most users will be left outside the box.
