I heard from reliable sources that Jaiku was bought for more like between $5-$15 million which also fits with commentary (again from reliable sources) that Jaiku was acquired more for its team than anything else. Where did you get this 100m figure from?

Jaiku never was a clone, it simply does other thing: it has multiple sources of different eventing information.

Just like search and communication isn't on the same market, I wouldn't say that a lifestream application is a clone of a social chat application.

Pownce better than Twitter? I don't know. Haven't tried it, but love twitter.

And weird dumb luck... my husband went to check out the Google/Twitter/SuperTuesday site and saw what I had just tweeted in the other room:

Longest possible route between 2 people in the same house.

WTF $100 mil for Jaiku. What does that mean Google will pay $1 billion for Twitter, I don't think so.

Google should run a Tab with Evan, they can just count the startups purchased and settle at the end of each year!

I know a ton of people who use both Jaiku and Twitter, which is odd to me considering they are essentially the same thing.

Twitter must be under consideration as an acquisition target.

Ai ai ai...

Wouldn't that suck? Selling your company to Google or Yahoo and they just let it sit there... to stagnate... and ultimately to suck ass.

That's why I don't think I could sell a company to a big player like that without some kind of commitment that they will try to make sure t he company doesn't suck ass in the future.
