Playyoo, a site we first reviewed in October and billed as a YouTube for mobile games, opens in beta today after 4 months in private testing.
Playyoo offers free games for mobile phones, user-generated content, social interaction and personal expression. Features include a discovery and download process that allows mobile phone users to find games of interest, personalized recommendations based on each user’s preferences and those of friend, Game creation tools that will allow users with no experience to design their own games and social networking features that allow developers and users who interact with others
Since first unveiled in October, London, England based Playyoo has generated strong interest within the Flash Lite and gaming communities, having gained visitors from 82 countries on 162 mobile networks to the site. Over 200 games are currently available for free download.
In addition to the launch, Playyoo will also expand their developer contests taking the total prize money available to $40,000. See the site for further details.

Great site, but your phone has to support Flash lite in order to play any of the games which is a bummer. How about one for J2ME games. Guess it’s getting about time to update my Samsung A900…
I love Playoo – they’ve been inspirational. Flash Lite is moving forward in China and the rest of the Asia-Pacific. At Muzui you can build your own games in J2ME – which is still the dominant platform.
This is wonderful. Mobile gaming is a growing trend and Flash Lite makes it a soom and enjoyable experience.
The ideal would be that site gave us the complete information about the compatible cellular models and the amount of memory necessary to downnload the games.
great tool, startup is also very easy in 2 minutes you can begin playing games! wondering what it gonna bring us in the future!
England is a US backed government. I want to emphasis that England has a US backed government. In case you didn’t know or you missed the last two sentences England is a US backed government.
No , get it right . The united kingdom is a US puppet government.

So Playyoo is only for flash lite games? Otherwise it seems similar to Hovr, except that Hovr is for j2me games and Payyoo for flash lite. When is mass adoption of flash lite expected in US (only a handful handsets in US support flash lite today, my Razr 2 does not).
For Flash Lite issues please refer to Bill Perry’s blog http://www.flashdevices.net/ – he keeps track of everything Flash Lite.
