Online storage provider Box.net has raised $6M in a Series B round of financing led by U.S. Venture Partners and involving Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
According to the release, Box.net currently has over 1.4 million registered users and will use the funding “to continue company expansion, including the development and marketing of new services and products.”
We recently covered the launch of OpenBox, a way for third-party web service developers to build functionality into Box.net. The company raised its $1.5M in Series A funding from Draper Fisher Jurvetson mid-2006 when it had only 500,000 members.
great Move. Just hope they don’t EVER get caught up in the social scheme. A great business for the times.

I recently had a free trial for their business account. It offered some pretty cool features (some more than we needed). I went with JungleDisk (www.jungledisk.com) and Amazon S3 service (http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261) instead.
Does anyone know if Box uses Amazon S3?
S3box will be S3-centric, fyi.. soon available, cheers (and btw congrats to box.net!)

I love this site…when used with the Office 2007 plugin (to save to your Box.net space) it becomes VERY useful.
Flash made it tick.. in fact, box.net demonstrated one usefulness of Flash (other than YouTube).
