Our last Crunchies report for the night until we get the various recorded segments from the official Crunchies archivists Revision 3 (you can see the archived live stream when its available from Mogulus here).

Brevity was the soul of wit tonight with the awards ceremony staying at around 2 hours, exactly as planned, and a decent effort considering there was 20 awards given out tonight. Read the full list of Crunchies winners here.

After the event Award attendees, those that couldn’t get tickets to the main event, and a couple of gatecrashers moved upstairs at the Herbst Theatre to drink beer from metal bottles and mingle with the many startups in attendance.

If you’re not interested, don’t click the “read the rest of this entry” button you’ll see if you’re reading this post on the front page, but some photos from the party as follows, including how Valleywag sneaks up on people for a shot. Also check out the Crunchies on Flickr here for more photos.

We knew Paul Boutin from Valleywag was coming, but it didn’t stop him sneaking up behind Michael and posing for shots before Michael knew he was there. BTW Paul, WTF with the sunglasses? :-)

Great job guys! Without question a great deal of work went into the entire show. I caught myself watching 30 minutes of the streaming show on a Friday night. I even saw it on the 10:00 news.

Overall the live streaming is only getting better with time. But, some lucky company out there will figure out a better way to deliver a picture. Nevertheless, great job! Traditional media companies are dead in the water. NO JOKE.

    Fake Steve Jobs was hilarious!

    Cheers!

    Geez…

Looks like those Silicon Valley tech events could use a dose of multi-culturalism besides the two or three faces that were chosen for the photos.

It looks the same at almost every event - even down to the limited age ranges of guests

One interesting thing about the women - they are successful, confident techies who do not feel the need to be blonde haired like half the 20s 30s crowd does.

I didn’t get as many shots as I’d like, but I can assure you, that there was a good mix, at least who I spoke to, that wise

  8. Rajeev

Hey congrats guys - great production.

Lucky the speech writers are on strike (otherwise it would have gone overtime).

Seems like you guys are having great fun over there, congrats for all the winners!

  12. Technicle

It’s great for TC to say yes re Zoho, while leaving somebody a chance to say nay.. that way, the cycle is perfected — and this media respectable (to date)..

  13. ch

What a bunch of freaking wanna-be tools. talk about a “me-too” event.
    Nice shirt Mike.

  14. Technicle

@12 - oops, wrong section.. should go to http://www.techcrunch.com/2008.....he-winners comments, in particular, in response to that @30 there.. consider this one retracted.

  15. yongfook

    has Michael A lost weight?

  16. Hasan Luongo

this was a blast - nicely done all around - the richter scales rocked and it was fun to meet a lot of the people you see and read about on TC/OM/RWW.

Even my wife had a blast - great night and looking forward to being one the nominees/winners next year!

  17. Amit Chowdhry

Any plans on posting the Richter Scales live performance on TC?

  18. Canye

I went to the event and was really disappointed. I’ve been to the TC parties at August Capital and this event doesn’t compare and I had to pay $40.

Michael, you really need to pay someone who can organize better parties. The awards were not the draw for the attendees, it was really the reception that followed. Two hours of awards was really too long and boring. The panel in the middle of the event really sucked and no one understood the point of it. Also, if I’m going to pay money, it would be nice to have some real food at the event rather than desset snacks.

I did have an ok time, but was bummed that the event to live to the expectations. Go back to the drawing board and improve the event next year.

  19. ZiZi

    @18
not sure what you were expecting 900 nerds packed in one big room.

Good event, but the pictures suck. Let me know if you guys ever need a photographer.

  24. Steven

3rd picture from the bottom - the guy in the black jacket has a bulls eye logo revealing itself. Trying to figure out what company that would be but can’t remember. Anyone has a clue?

  25. george

    Let me be honest
Michaeal Arrington has no personality whatsoever

But for christ sake please stop publishing pictures and showcasing this guy…. please………..
