Indie music and film site OurStage has announced a new content partnership with Joost that will see user picked content offered to Joost users.
Under the deal, OurStage will offer four channels on Joost: Best of OurStage Shorts, Best of OurStage Comedy, OurStage Music Videos and OurStage Artist Access. The channels will give Joost users access to 10 OurStage Artists on each channel and exclusive content including music festival coverage & advice from established musicians & filmmakers.
OurStage launched in March 2007 and lets users rank and buy Inide songs and video. Artists upload their content, which users then judge - two snippets are heard/ watched and the user votes for which one he or she likes the best. The result are constantly updated in to top lists of songs. The top songs overall or by category are then listed on the site, and prizes are given to the top artists each month.

Even with this announcement… is anyone actually using Joost? Without better content… start the countdown clock to the deadpool.
ourstage is very cool - similar to amie street - and joost is growing slowly - but people like hulu better because its real tv shows with real big money actor and actress.

I don´t know anybody who uses Joost. I don´t really see the potential either. Everytime they sign a content partnership they still get attention in the media and blogosphere though, and thats kind of impressive. By signing content deals they will probably stay afloat for another year , if were talking press coverage…

This is a great tip for all the websurfers who always are to as much as soon as music, videos and films. Although to all always enchants to have in the PC or cellphone the songs that are fashion.

This is cool. I don’t know whether or not Joost will work long-term but I know OurStage is a keeper - and is growing like crazy. CMJ did a poll last month that named them the #1 site on the web for Indie music - over myspace.
Joost has lots of content but thir channel guide doesn’t show it well. Take a look at the unofficial guide, JoostList. Its got a great digg style interface and you can browse by almost any category. Right now the front page is featuring all the hottest videos from Joost.

It could probably use some soft porn to get people to actually use it.
I’m also a believer this one might go to the deadpool soon, there’s also rumors that 2 of the lead coders are leaving the company, the reasons are not clear, but it’s might be cause they think the boat is sinking?
update: it seems those 2 lead coders that left joost, are … hear this, the CTO, and the COO!!, looks like it is going to the deadpool for sure.
How about some controversy? Add Joost to the deadpool. A loss of their CTO plus rumors of trouble in their NY office spells doom in my eyes.
