editgrid.jpgOnline spreadsheet tool and Crunchies finalist EditGrid have released a range of new features to coincide with tonights Crunchies.

In addition to adding new functions, the release incorporates integration to both consumer and enterprise applications.

The Special Crunchies Release Features

  • Mashup Function - The image function fetches live images/charts from other Web services into a spreadsheet cell. The function can be used to fetch charts dynamically based on values stored in cells. (See example here)
  • Merge Cell Function - EditGrid supports both horizontal and vertical merge cell while Google Spreadsheet and Zoho Sheet only support horizontal merge cell.
  • EditGrid Plug-in for Confluence – EditGrid partners with Atlassian to offer EditGrid as the default plug-in for Confluence hosted customers.
  • EditGrid App for Facebook – EditGrid’s application is available on Facebook. See our well-designed integration.

With this new release, EditGrid aims to reach more users “by embracing the Web 2.0 platform and integrating with enterprise and social platforms.”

Stop this f****** crunchies post on techcrunch. Just a suggestion..why dont you have a separate section for all such promotional posts.I am a big fan of techcrunch ,such promotional posts forces me not to visit your site that frequently

  3. drivingsouth

Agree with #2. This stinks as much as payperpost in my opinion

  4. damon

Yes, driving to grow the breadth of the TC scope is tiresome, all we care about is TC, not crunchies, not crunchnotes, not crunchbase, and not crunchthatass

  5. mathew johnson

@ 2&3: screw you guys - those are really cool features - regardless of Crunchies association.

  6. damon

yes, they are nice features and I liked hearing about them, I could just care less about all the other crunches

  7. damon

oh, one more thing, as nice as the features are, I don’t believe merging cells would have risen to the level of a TC post unless the EditGrid folks (wisely) brown-nosed TC with the crunchies related timing….

Silde just raised 50 mil on a 500 mil valuation…big story in my opinion…NY times, venturebeat have the story…i usually expect this type of story to broken via techcrunch…hustle people…I agree with the all of the above…enough with the crunchies….

  9. Hassan

gigaom has it…even valleywag has the story…..get with the program…seriously a widget company is worth a half a billion $$$….thats news on techcrunch

  10. Chance

Because the world needs ANOTHER online spreadsheet tool that offers less features common desktop applications that have been around for 10 years.

  11. Technicle

TC just has this intrinsic love for web-office stuffs… well, web2.0… about interesting news, other than $ and valuation, this KickApp company releasing something that “In effect, any app that works on Facebook or on Google’s OpenSocial platform will also work on a KickApps-enabled website, and vice-versa.” (per marketingvox.com).. seems real interesting (for web2.0) if that’s true… mightbe.. mightbe not..

just don’t read the stories if it does not interest you. I self edit my TC stream…. You don’t have to click on everything.

Hi, this is David Lee of the EditGrid Team.

Re: Crunchies Release timing. May be you guys don’t understand the excitement of a Hongkong-based company get into the Crunchies. Award or not, we don’t quite care. But we know our users can’t eat award but can certainly enjoy new features of EditGrid.

Re: Another online spreadsheet. If you look closely at online spreadsheets. It (at least EditGrid) is not there just to replicate features of offline spreadsheets. When a critical mass of features is achieved, focus should move on to bring all the exciting things that’s is only possible for online spreadsheet. The mashup functions is the first of many to follow.

Thanks for kind words about our new features and integrations. It is these encouragement which fuel our engines of innovations.
