Duncan at TC40 using the wi fi was not reliable due to being slammed.

We used Verizon EVDO for our demoPit presentation and fortunately had no issues ... no need to run the site locally.

I'd suggest EVDO if you don't already have it!

Duncan,

It's good to hear that TC is doing it this year. Please, please, please take a look the coverage between CrunchGear and Engadget from the 2007 Keynote.

CG's coverage looks like it came from a 10 year old. While Engadget's is professional, polished and extremely informative.

http://crunchgear.com/2007/01/09/crunchgear-macworld-2007-the-keynote/

http://engadget.com/2007/01/09/live-from-macworld-2007-steve-jobs-keynote/

Whoever does it for TC, please do a better job. We need details! Not, quotes like this:

Two greatest companies on the web, sez Jobs. Yahoo and Google on the same stage? Strange.

When you compare that to what Engadget said, you can see that there is no comparison:

10:31am - "From google what we have on the phone is google search built right into the browser and google maps. We've been working closely with them.. it's my pleaseure now to introduce Dr. Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO."

10:32am - Eric: "I've had the privilege of joining the board and there's a lot of relationships... if we merge the companies we can call it Applegoo -- but I'm not a marketing guy. You can actually merge without merging. Each company should do the absolutely best thing they can do every time, and he's shown it today." Huge applause, again.

10:33am - "We can take the enormous brain trust of the Apple team and the open protocols of companies like google and put them in an environment for end users. From a gooogle perspective we've pushed very hard to partner with Apple and working with many many different data service, -- Steve showed a little bit. It comes together seamlessly. This is the first of a whole new generation..."

"Steve, my congratulations to you, this product is going to be HOT."

I am very excited about the macworld expo this year. After a great 2007 for the apple family, I’m expecting new great innovations for this year. I am always impressed by how Steve Jobs presents himself with his infamous keynote speeches during macworld expos. I really do hope to get a chance to work for apple in the near future. Apple really does provide a lot help of for artists such as me. I hope that apple would still continue to innovate stuff for the creative community. More power to Steve and his fruit!

Do we need TechCrunch and CrunchGear both? I like what CrunchGear did with the CES keynote, even if the keynote itself was uneventful. But why not have duncan help with CG instead of both sites? Too much to check already!

Why did Microsoft insist on conducting their MicrosoftWorld conference at the same time as MacWorld 2008? They even "borrowed" MacWorld's slogan and tried to hide it by changing it slightly. They aren't fooling anyone! http://moourl.com/msworld

I hope CrunchGear does a better job of writing down the keynote this time.

Engadget was much, much better at telling us wtf was happening during the last keynote. Time to step it up GC!
