Spotted by Google Operating System is a new iPhone specific interface for Google’s personalized webpage product iGoogle. The page can accessed directly from http://google.com/ig/i, although iPhone users should be immediately redirected to this page when trying to access iGoogle.
The new iPhone interface is a step up from Google’s previous offering of a mobile specific page at google.com/m (our review here) which only offered limited customization options.
iGoogle for iPhone will compete with Netvibes, who launched their one iPhone specific version in August 2007.
First impressions: this is good. As someone who has long given in to the Google borg all the major services I use (email, RSS reader etc) are through Google, and now iGoogle will give me a start page that links into those service. Google fans will love this, however if you’re not a heavy Google user nothing to see here, move along.

Nice
Does the Wikipedia results page have an iPhone specific interface too?
good but more need to be done
it is simply fascinating to watch the world become technically interconnected…. will it go the way of orwell? kafka? more benign? stay tuned….
Definitely better than their first attempt, which was one of the buggiest iphone tailored interfaces. It’s more “google-ized”, which means it’s not as pretty as Netvibes (or the latest Yahoo beta, for that matter), but it’s faster and simpler (especially on EDGE).
My favorite iphone interfaces are still Facebook and Amazon…I just discovered the latter a few days ago when looking up reviews in a bookstore, and Amazon really did their homework…just flies on EDGE, and does a great job of providing access to a lot of content.
This look great. I just tried it and love it.
Interesting wave of start pages going mobile - just saw that the Protopage start page is coming out with a new mobile version soon too
Still waiting for a gmail app for the iphone. Gmail IMAP on the iphone is alright but limited.
Pretty slick and fast on my iphone. The drop down for the tabs is a nice touch.
Google and Apple are a killer duo. I do not think they should merge, but rather partner more intensely then they have in the past.
Just tried it - perfect!
No more pinching and scrolling
Is this the REAL WEB 3.0, the future of the Web?

Now, do anyone really use this iGoogle.?
Netvibes on the iPhone/iPod Touch FTW! Netvibes is much better than iGoogle, hands down.
More apps need to come to fruition for this app to really make it large in the community of iPhone users. I think the simpler the interface, the better - A simple Google search box would suffice, an iGoogle page is good, but the interface of the iPhone isn’t good enough to handle that which is read on a computer screen Yet.
Google will get into anything that sells and anything that sells will get into Google.
Well I guess it is true. There Is Something In The Air indeed for Apple and maybe Google is involved. Or like Cringely was speculating on Friday it may be Adobe.
Since you have a hacked iPhone, you can take real screenshots
Yahoo, Amazon, and Google all have iPhone portals for some time already, should we expect more from Microsoft? Find more iPhone sites at http://www.appsafari.com
I really like the google iphone page, it seems like they were really thinking for iphone users not just compatibility.
I want a Google Version for my Nintendo DS since I discovered how nice surfing on the coach can be with Opera for DS …
Just tried it and it doesn’t work correctly yet. My default setting has email and the latest movies in my area. However, Google defaults me to zipcode 94043. When i edit it to my proper zipcode it works for that instance only. Everytime I visit iGoogle it still has me does as zip 94043.
Thats amazing product!
