Please Michael Arrington write about this AGAIN!!!!!!

Unaware of any of this...I tested several domain names on Godaddy last week. (I never used Network Solutions) and then went to purchase them today. All were bought by a company called Metapredict. Further research shows a connection to a company called RPM - who registered their domain through Godaddy.

Metapredict seems to be kiting over 500,000 names a week. I called Godaddy to complain and the customer service person I spoke to knew nothing about this. If Godaddy is innocent in this too they need to put a warning on the home page of their site and tell users how to protect themselves. Godaddy spends millions on its superbowl commercials to reach the average person. If they are not partners with these guys then they should actively be educating users. Because the average person would not know to wait five days to see if it is released and would simply give up. - that has to be costing Godaddy millions a day...unless they are in on it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a service provider I recommend my customers to switch to other providers of domain service.
I had several bad experiences with this company. There mail support is really bad.
There are other companys with much better service.
Stay away - you will not be wrong...

I just did some research on the guy running this scam... his name is Champ Mitchell. This guy is nothing but a bitch and pirate scamming the Internet Community. Please do us all a favor and do not use network solutions.

Read this article he wrote: http://about-networksolutions.com/letter.php

He is talking about phishing scams... Mr. Mitchell, please!!! What the hell do you think your company is doing? Do you not think that an innocent person researching a domain name on your website, and then deciding $35 is too much, and decides to register at another registering site, then only to find that you stole it right from under them is not a form of phishing scam? Give me a break! This tactic will surely drive customers away.

The same thing happened to me on Jan 11. I go to Godaddy.com to check a domain name. I then went to networksolutions.com to get a competitive price, then I go back to godaddy.com minutes later to buy the name and it is taken!

The moment you Search the domain name, they burst into action registering the name themselves.

I find out that NetworkSolutions bought it, and the cheapest they will sell it for is $34.99!!!

THIS IS AN IMMORAL tactic - IT IS A SCAM! Front Run my ass. The only people front running is NETWORK Solutions.

Hi Michael,

I work for Network Solutions and wanted to make sure I updated this thread.

After getting feedback from customers and the industry we made changes to our domain protection measure.

The changes already implemented and in place are:

- No domain searched in the WHOIS page will be reserved.
- Only Domains searched on the networksolutions.com homepage and domain product page will be reserved.
- We added additional customer notification to the NetworkSolutions.com homepage.
-Information on reserved domains is not publicly available in the zone file (Jay Westerdal confirmed it and blogged about in his post today http://blog.domaintools.com/2008/01/network-solutions-is-getting-better/ )

We will continue to monitor and make enhancements to this. Thanks everyone who pitched in and gave us suggestions and their point of view.

Network Solutions hacked my eNom account!

I logged onto Enom/Bulkregister and attempted to buy a domain name on Jan 9th. At no time did I go to Network Solutions. The domain was available and was in my enom/bulk shopping cart. I pressed "confirm/purchase" and it seemed to go through. I believe I got a web page confirm (and I went on to purchase another domain and didn't print the screen shot). However, the confirm email said the purchase didn't go through.

So I checked with Whois, to find that the domain had been registered by Network Solutions at the EXACT time that I had tried to buy it from enom/bulk...BUT, it WAS available for sales from Network Solutions!

I was forced to buy it from Network Solutions for $34.99

I complained to Bulk and NetSol..NetSol today called me back and said, we do that so you won't be "front run" by someone...BUT I NEVER WENT ONTO NS before!....clearly eNom is sending the info to Netsol!! The eNom tech support said, gosh, no way....clearly eNom is sending traffic to NetSol so they can front run their clients....

Network Solutions is a terrible company! I tried for 1 year to buy a dead domain off them and they were totally useless! This domain is registered until 2012 by registrants would never received my return-receipt letters, phones disconnected etc... I tried Net Sol's certified offer service and there was no response, after that they were pretty useless as they did their own querries, after that they pretty much abandoned and could never give me a straight answer on how i was supposed to get the domain, eventually their legal department started telling me they werent required to treat with 3rd parties... but if the WHOIS info is incorrect???
come to think of it, if anyone knows a lawyer who can help me out here... i can be reached at craigopopolis@gmail.com
thanks!

This sounds like a Realtor showing someone a house and then buying it themselves so that they can sell it to the buyer at a higher price. ... except that registrars can do this at little or no cost.

This is a very dirty business practice.

As I have suggested on WHT and in my blog (here: http://www.istudioweb.com/network-solution-saga-continues-2008-01-11/) - move your domains away from Network Solutions.

If you blog about this you should use http://boycottnetworksolutions.com/ in place the NetSols site so we can raise the search rank of this for these bastards :-)

Wow, ultra sleazy move NS. It's too bad that egregious violations of the grace period are ruining the catch and release prospects for the regular joes who can't build 500K+ domain bots.

The link is finally active! (It points back to this article.) I want to point it somewhere that it will do the most harm to these crooks.

Somebody put up a page with a forum, and links to all the negative articles you can find. Tell me where to point it next.
