Yahoo Tech Ticker: More Details And A Screenshot
by Michael Arrington on January 9, 2008

Yahoo’s new technology business video show, TechTicker, is set to go live soon (officially, in the next few weeks, but I’m hearing that some early stuff may come out as soon as next week).

The show will be hosted by Henry Blodget (Silicon Alley Insider), Sarah Lacy (Business Week columnist) and Paul Kedrosky and will have 10-20 original segments per week day, focusing on financial news and the CNBC crowd.

Screen shots are starting to leak, and we have this one with Lacy and Blodget just prior to locking into a passionate embrace, I’m sure. Stay tuned for more launch information. Meanwhile, keep watching Wallstrip.

It’s really amazing that blodget is still allowed to do stuff in the techworld. maybe it’s about some sort of opposite psychology? who knows :)

Marcel - what are you talking about? We looooooooove Blodget.

Well, I already have my fill of tech news from blogs like this, plus the MSM, but…that woman is too damn cute for me to pass up!

Hot woman knowledgeable on the tech industry?

I’ll watch.

Wow - Yahoo is throwing in their lot with Blodget? Yikes, the guy was banned by the SEC for LIFE!

There’s tons of room for some well produced video shows on tech and biz. I’m guessing we’ll see half a dozen more attempts this year. It will come down to personality and content. I’ve been waiting for some good stuff to watch on the web. And so far the Qik videos Scobleizer is doing of his family watching TV don’t quite register on the content meter. Geeks may figure out the next thing first … but they don’t necessarily have the chops to do a cool show. GigaOMs video show … intelligent … but boring. Sorry Om. Love you … but it’s boring.

omg a screenshot of two people standing inside the nasdaq building - this is bigger than google joining dataportability.org

:-P

Check out the market minute section on Dividend.com. We are building the “What’s the Trade?” app/site as we speak. In the meantime you can read and check out how we are navigating the readers/viewers through the market volatility.

Why would you watch a show that is delayed and takes 10 minutes of your time when you could get the same info in 2 minutes skimming a couple of blogs? If the good looking girl is the selling point why not look at hotter girls during the 8 other minutes?

I think the good-looking girl is almost canceled out by that freakshow-looking Blodget guy.

HELLO YAHOO: How about offering live streaming of stock quotes? What’s up with 20min delays???

Incredible that Blodget is still around…. and then anyone believes what he has to say about this space. That is, except for any inside tips he gets from Kevin Ryan or any of his other pals.

@10 Yahoo would love to stream realtime stock quotes, and in fact they do if you pay. But unfortunately, the exchanges keep tight control on their data and will not offer it without signed user agreements and payment.

@2 $100mm… heh. That must have been before Duncan joined.

Henry is the man. I love his blog.

Hey, um, can you guys stop posting so much relevant content…? I’m actually trying to get some work done, and it’s hard when all > 90% of the posts are good… :-(

If cracks me up that people hate Blodget so much. He was made the goat during web 1.0.
Just like a secrete service agent someone always has to take a bullet. That’s life!

As part of a “voluntary” lay off in 2001 Henry took a $2M severance package. Oh ya, I almost forgot, Reuters reported his salary to be $5M in 2000. Don’t hate the playa, hate the game!

While new websites are being created for existing markets, a new comer appropriately named trialipo, http://www.trialipo.com is targeting the upcoming IPO markets. Looks like the site has launched and has a few errors but has a lot of web 2.0 companies that are being examined in IPO environment. I tried to sign up but its only avialbelt to certain people. sounds cool. They have facebook in the thing, slide, linkedin, zoodango, youtube, and all.

Oh good financevision 1.9 ….um, yay.

Yahoo should know we dont get our tech news this way.

Henry Blodget is a young guy? Wow, I assumed he was a very overweight white-haired has-been stock analyst. Clearly, he’s not. He doesn’t look a day over 35.

Cheers,
Doug

Blodget has some ocean front property in Arizona for sale.

ANY TAKERS ?

Doug: at least he is looking young (: perhaps he isn’t, just taking the right pills …

I’m looking forward to seeing Sarah Lacy in an ongoing podcast. She’s very positive & personable. Her new book also looks interesting, though I hope it’s not as long-winded as the title makes it seem (Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good: The Rebirth of Silicon Valley and the Rise of Web 2.0).

I’m very picky with the podcasts I subscribe to, but I’m definitely willing to give this one a chance!

Look forward to seeing this new show with Blodget. I find his views very insightful and much less hype driven than certain other technical commentators in this industry!

Thanks for the shout out to Wallstrip!
