I like the online newsgator (and the iPhone) version when I am away from my PC, but no way can Google Reader match the user experience in NetNewsWire (or most of its functionality). In fact, the only thing I like better about Google Reader is the shared items (ooooohhhh), which I use on occassion.

I am actually surprised they are giving away the desktop clients, there must be some decent revenue there. Especially since NNW is the most widely used client–in the world–which is weird, because it’s a Mac ap. But anyone who’s on a Mac, I highly recommend you try this. Not only is it the best desktop newsreader, it’s one of the best Mac applications I’ve ever used (and I use it a LOT).

Thanks NewsGator for making my next upgrade free!

I am a long time user of FeedDemon and absolutely love it. I have tried online readers in the past but never felt they worked quite aswell as FeedDemon. Coupled with the online sync reader, I now have all my feeds with me wherever I go. The iPhone version of newsgator is my most used app! Try it, you’ll love it. No excuse now its free.

I only hope the enterprise products work for them revenue wise, I don’t want ads displayed in FeedDemon. If the plan doesn’t work, I would gladly start paying for FeedDemon again.

Absolutely love FeedDemon and Newsgator Go and the Newsgator Synchronisation, didn’t mind paying for them and am still thrilled that they are free now. It will be even easier to convince people to switch to Newsgator now!

I’ve been happy with Google Reader but that point about lag time is making me rethink my decision. (Actually the “free” part had more to do with it, but either way, sounds good!)

Good for them, that is a nice move. Looks like desktop feed readers are becoming more and more popular, since NewsGator is not the first company that changed their software to free of charge.

This is great news because Newsgator are a great company, but I think I am happy with Google Reader, despite it’s infamous sharing function!
