I spent the last week building 40 Twitter accounts because I have 20 blogs and wanted to get exposure for them via Twitter. I used a gmail filter to set this up and to date Twitter has suspended most of them “due to suspicious activity”
So much for “networking”

if your not using tweet deck than you really have not seen the importance of twitter, i use tweet deck to search for posts related to technical topics that interest me. most tweets are garbage but i know when anything related to silverlight and sharepoint appears on the web soon as i open up tweet deck

In setting up multiple accounts with Twitter, Twitter requires that you enter different e-mail addresses. Don’t you find this cumbersome?

I agree with Nicole Simon. Language is another reason for people to have multiple twitter accounts. I started on Twitter a few weeks ago, and have on occasion been posting in Hindi, besides the regular English posts. Since my other friends have multiple accounts, I decided to sign up for another. Twitter seems to link your account with your email address, so it seems I need to use another email address for another email. Then I need to use something like splitweet to use my multiple accounts. I think ultimately Twitter will allow people to use multiple identities.

I have 2. One for personal, blog, fun etc the other strictly Busines,Finance, mortgages. It won’t make any sense to display blogging articles on my mortgage twitter account.

I have written a web-based app called MultiTweet (http://multitweet.com) specifically to make it easy to manage multiple Twitter and Jaiku account. It is still in closed beta but if anyone wants to try it out please go and register. I usually send out invites within a few days as I am trying to get more users to be able to load test it more effectively.

I organize the Tweetups for Seattle, so I have @SeattleTweeters specifically for following people in Seattle and announcing Tweetup dates. I’m a high-volume Twitterer (about to hit 6k) so not everyone wants to follow me, but they still want to know when the next dates are.

(If any Seattle folks are reading this, feel free to follow for the announcement of the next Tweetup.)

I think it’s a myth that you can keep personal and business accounts separate on Twitter, but I do see the merit of a business-only account if you’re using it to communicate within a small group.
