I think Ubuntu is great :-) gOS is based on the Ubuntu kernel, and focuses more on Google and web apps like the article notes.

Everex has done a good job of getting the gOS out there for people who are looking for an economic computer, but for a lot of us the horsepower on those machines just doesn't cut it.

I'm working with DeviceVM on Splashtop - software that lets you access the Internet seconds after turning on your computer. Our focus is on complementing the existing OS (Windows or Linux) with something very specific to certain tasks you want to accomplish quickly - checking email, getting directions, chatting, VoIP calls, photo uploads, watching movies, etc. We think by the end of 2008 consumers will expect this functionality on any new machine.

Check out our website (www.splashtop.com) to learn more and stop by our CES booth with ASUS in the Las Vegas Convention Center in South Hall 4, 35162.

While it truly is great to see the gOS's of the world do well, the straw that will break the camel's back will be the UNIX based Mac OS X.

I'd love to buy one, although gOS was the first. I'll definitely take a look though in the future.

Hey Duncan you may want to check out the ASUS eepc. I got my mrs one of these for Christmas. It runs Xandros which is a Debian derivative, It only has a 7 inch screen and a 4gb solid state drive but like gOS its geared towards a "thin client architecture". I think we may well see a shift towards this sort of computing in the future where users only need their computer's for doing web-app based stuff.

Nice :) Microsoft watch out!

From what I saw in the first one, it has a LONG way to go yet, but I can see the future of everything being web based so you can sync your OS when you move to other computers, laptops and the like so you never lose your info
