It has come to my attention that CG writer Doug Aamoth was married last night in a clandestine ceremony. While I cannot now punish him for his transgression, I would encourage both CG and TC staffers to reconsider the urge to marry beautiful women for the simple reason that it reduces our geek cred considerably. Doug, for example, is now on a “honeymoon” instead of posting, a massive breach of the Blogger Code, specifically by-law 1.894 of the Winer Addendum which states:
Bloggers cannot take vacation or stop thinking about blogging. Blogging, like breathing, is the blogger’s top priority and no amount of sun, fun, and well drinks should change that.
I encourage you to express your displeasure to doug@crunchgear.com. Unity is strength.

Now he’s wife tells him when he can and can’t blog
Wow, I want to see the rest of that dress, it looks awesome.
Maybe you guys should have given him an iPhone to let him blog.
She is way to hot, he’ll never blog again.
cute girl, but I think she needs to lay off the fake tan or something
Isn’t carrying an iPhone part of the TC and CG job description?
No, no! Per Arrington’s orders, CG guys are required to always carry a Windows Mobile device (so he doesn’t have to.)
Can you blame him? Sometimes, it’s just good to be boss
BTW, I’m a die-hard Crackberry 8700c fan — it’s been dropped in almost every major airport in the US, and still soldiers on like nothing happened.
John I’m guessing by “the urge to marry beautiful women” that CG and TC either don’t have any female bloggers on staff or you think they are all lesbians?
Man, she really married down. Must have been desperate.
Photos like this really drive the point home about why you should pay the fees for a professional wedding photographer and not just count on your guest’s skills with digital cameras for memories you’d like to show your grandkids.
well, sure, it could be bad… unless… the wife is a blogger too?

Congrats!
congratz, best thing I ever did was get married :p
Doug seems to be asking his sweetheart, “Are you sure you wanna be with me for the rest of your life?” lol Congrats and best wishes to you and your lovely bride, Doug.
Getting married won’t affect his ability to blog. The byproduct of marriage - kids - will do that!
Congratulations to Doug. My wife reminds me to post at least once a week - since she edits my posts. So, Doug … Arrington WAS the boss, now it is time to answer to a new voice
Again, congrats!!
personally I’m very against marriage. As a guy what exactly do you gain by signing that death warrant? You gain nothing, and you lose everything. For record’s sake, I’m comparing this to a long-term relationship where you live together.
Marriage is an archaic institution from when you could expect honesty from women. The current generation of women is too selfish, and they are too eager to quit if something isn’t working. Which is why the divorce rate in this country is around 50%, and many people are on their 5th or 6th marriage.
The problem are the divorce laws. Its too easy to get one, and women have a very high incentive to go for it, because they’ll get 50% of your stuff regardless if you have a prenup or not.
And yeah I know some people will call me bitter, but out of all the people my age that I know, I do not see one person who is happily married, all of them hate their spouses but don’t want to leave them because they’ll get raped in court. Which once again is based on the friends who got divorced and lost it all because the divorce law is so unfair to men.

@cameron - let’s just say that the ladies of crunchgear calendar would be very short.
@bob - sigh
@ andrew - double sigh
http://xkcd.com/77/
@John, you’ll triple sigh when you lose half your shit even after you catch her in the act
He should post even on the midst of a honeymoon…
His tie still bowed awfully
congrats !!
his work might get effected for few months..till honeymoon lasts :-)…but believe me in the long run he will be more productive
@25 yeah he’ll spend more time at work because he won’t want to go back home
Below is the text of the e-mail I sent Doug:
This is obvious some kind of silly prank, because everyone knows that no one on the Techcrunch staff could ever find a wife that isn’t mail order from Russia. This is particularly true for that smuck John Biggs, but it’s true for you, too! But the joke’s over. Now forget all this marriage silliness. No one buys it, so back to your parents’ basement and recommence your blogging and playing MMOs.
congrats
I agree with chrisw, kids are worse than wives!
wow….congrats to that guy. she is way out of his league..j/k…
…she looks orange, what race is orange?
The difference betwen nerds and geeks is that geeks dates. So, yours cred will remain safe.

Congratulations Doug
Hey Doug, Congratulations
I wish this new year and marriage heralds a new journey of happiness and fulfillment in your life [:)]
Whoever this guy is, he’s fired.
(congrats, Doug. :-0)
Andrew is gay!
Nice to see TC continues to have a sense of humor
Thanks, the first funny post of 2008.
It’s quite clear that Andrew has some “Issues” that he needs to work out. Perhaps he should get in touch with Zed Shaw from the RoR posting.
Two words: Mimi Bobeck
Stop criticizing other people’s wife. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
BTW, I believe that geeks with the right social skills can also be highly attractive. The only difference being that they like technology.
Adam (#27)
8 long years and counting.
Congrats Doug, she looks like a great catch.
I’d put it in her.
@EoT - Right on. It’s guys like Josh, above, who give douches a bad name.
Congrats Doug! The secret is to have her HELP you with your blogging. Companies will be far more forthcoming with information when there is a beautiful woman (or at least the idea of one) on the other end of the line.
John,
Oh you’re bad, you’re really bad. *smirk*
Blogging today, bloggers for life.
Why is it that she’s nice and tan, but he’s kinda pale and blotchy? Too much time blogging?
Maybe he’s wife can blog with him
First of all, whats with the pork chops on his cheeks? Where in Florida Pan Handle did he find Trixy with the glo eye shadow and curtain dress fabric?
Hey, every pot has a lid and this looks like a perfect fit! I salute you with a shot of my very own brew!
Now that you have our attention, we want to see more Wedding Photography from the wedding! Post more pics!
