New Blackberry 9000 in iPhone Black?

A picture of what may or may not be the next-generation Blackberry 9000 popped up in an online forum. The device does not appear to have a touchscreen, but it does sport a black iPhone-like sheen. Again, this could be the real deal, a hoax, or some unrelated prototype. But one thing is for sure: iPhones and Blackberries are on a collision course. As iPhones gain more enterprise-class e-mail capabilities, Blackberries will add more consumer-friendly design to its devices.

You know, I have a Blackberry Pearl and I love the email capability but hate the web browser. If the iPhone had enterprise-level email functionality, and a slide-out qwerty keyboard when you flip it horizontal, I would be ALL OVER IT. That touch screen keyboard is a huge downfall for business users who are basically using their blackberrys as laptop replacements when sitting in an airport or train station.
What strikes me as odd is the lack of the scroll ball, which MAYBE would hint at a touch screen?????
Then again, as posted on engadget, the second B on blackberry is backwards.
I heard it will have a 3.2 megapixel camera, if yes I will certainly have it.
Competition is good. Better phones for me! What is the forecasted release date for the 9900?
don’t knock that iPhone keyboard until you try it. in my very unscientific testing. which is basically blackberry users telling me they can type very fast and then challenging me to a type-off. the iphone keyboard wins hands-down in speed and accuracy every time. Even 3-year blackberry users that say they are quite skilled at typing (boy this seems like a bad skill to promote in oneself) have been put to shame by multiple iPhone newbies. Are the blackberry-guy commercials under production yet?
Now if we could only get a mobile email user that uses their brain and fingers they might actually be able to read, reflect, and provide something more than a four-word response in which to move ideas forward instead of driving them straight into a black”berry” hole.
man, this has got me wishing…..I wish the iPhone would support Skype when you’re on wi-fi, and a built-in web cam for Skype. Then we’ve got a total Jetsons-type video-phone device! How cool…
the phone may be real…but the BlackBerry logo is obviously a fake. Backwards “B” and improper alignment.

Check out Opera Mini for your BlackBerry if the built in browser isn’t meeting your needs. Just point your existing browser to http://www.operamini.com and download.
Hope it helps.

“Is this a startup blog or a gadget blog?”
yea, why the hell is this on here? first of all, the fake picture was used ONLY to mention that lame “collision course” comment, which still isn’t relevant to techcrunch.
Imitation is the best form of flattery.
Darn and I just bought my new Blackberry Curve. What happened to the good old days where your new b/b was good for at least a year? Just wait till they release a blackberry iphone
I think the BB iphone is on its way!
Apple should sue these guys!
Apple INVENTED black! Hell they invented “sheen” too - I swear I saw a blog about that patent!
Come on you lazy Apple IP lawyers, stop this device from coming to market! It’s a blatant rip off!
As my nephews would say, another lame iPhone knockoff! RIM simply doesn’t have the have GUI experience that even Verizon hads.
Oh, and a keyboard- so yesterday. My son coined the latter.
Will be tricky to get them as copy cat. I am sure they thought about it.
fail
I think I will try it
Buying one.
Well no touchscreen and a lcd half of the size of the iphone…does not compare.

I am sure it will have a search function that iphone does not have. T
True, no touch screen , that is a big minus. tks
The iphone may be cool lookin but I don’t get what the people at the top are talkin about. I mean do you hear yourself? Your saying the iphone is better than a blackberry lol that’s almost like saying a PC is better than a mac.
But yeah I do like the design of that phone up there even if its a hoax they should make something like that.
- obviously posted while browsing TC on my BB
I just know I won’t be able to afford it. My phone is so old school. It just makes and receives calls.
Of course if you decide to buy one, you can always send me your old one.
looks more like an 8800 + motorla q qwerty.
Design part is goodl, looks mini laptop to me.
Design part is good, looks mini laptop to me.
Mobiles are the future of all around communication and not just as phones.
so any progress in user interface design is to be welcomed since it only improves our connectivity to the world.
So this competition is good. Want more experimental designs to focus on ease of use for consumers.

I am agree that iPhone and Blackberry are in collision course. As and iPhone user, I am waiting for the thirty party in his sand box. It’s clear for me -I have 2 versions one experimental, it mean “open” and other “totally apple fashion” and only expect for the iPhone some editing documents features -and sharing too- video recording and Skype facility, and why not G3 or better carrier- to stay with this superior and quite beautiful device, by far, today ahead the rest.

Nice design. The keyboard is a big plus.
Thanks for this great information
I’ll never go back to the blackberry, as I have the iphone and love it.
The ideal would be to unite both technologies and of this fusion would be born a product that would cover all the necessities. http://www.greenpeacecanada.info/
