   In certain categories there is too much competition. For example, there seems to be no room for so many web 2.0 websites. Probably many of them won’t be successful and will have to go down during 2008.

   YAVSS = Yet Another Video Sharing Site

   YASN = Yet Another Social Network.

   YAFTP = Yet Another Free Telephone Play.

   YAYF = Yet Another Yahoo Flop

   The TC dead pool list is really a subset of the the losers.

   Reading top down, I just noticed “The Year In Deals (2007 Edition)”, however chronologically it seems like you posted the success stories before the deadpool, which I think is cool.

   So I take my last comment back Nicely done.

   There is more to learn from failure then success - as such, this is a treasure trove as to what NOT to do when you have a start-up. Thanks for posting this summary… lots of great info!

   mike, people dont like you writing about things going to deadpool, even me, i made some comments on that.
   but there is something very important in every cases of deadpool, in each of them there are lessons for everyone to learn. actually i think those posts should not be just a short post about the company shutting down, they should be longer, with your and other opinions, like analysis. posts like where things went wrong, how that happened and why. what were the mistakes, how did that happen that they did it.
   yes, dead company, no one gives a shit to that, everyone forgets about them and tend to look at hot things like facebook, or last year youtube. but in the end, ok facebook is great and mark made a billion. but what is there for those who read those posts nothing, just spend time checking the app out. but reading those opinion and review posts on how companies die will teach us a lot, especially those who think of or are starting their own business or being an active part in some companies. that would give them a lot.
   anyways, happy new year.

    I’m missing omnidrive.com or are they the first deadpool clients for 2008

    there is a lot of rumour about some people speaking about fraudulent use of paypal

    For those interested for an alternative to 8apps, we’re launching in a few month http://www.octabox.com - it’s definitely not going into the deadpool since we’re almost 1 year into developement and now in our first step of getting funded.
