Really? Yes, Really:
The song, which is pretty damned good, is performed by Kina Grannis. Here are the lyrics (and hear Kina’s other songs here):
When I’m feeling lazy, at school or when I work
I sneak to my computer, and then I like to shirk
I don’t go online shopping, I don’t email with my mom
I open up my browser, and go to digg-dot-comChorus: Gotta digg, gotta digg, gotta digg
Gotta make this story big!
Did you hear that awful sound?
Another server’s down!I always dig up Apple, and I bury Microsoft
But when I said I was a girl, all the diggers scoffed
And when I see those stories about Senator Ron Paul
I don’t even RTFA; I just digg them all!Chorus: Gotta digg, gotta digg, gotta digg
Gotta make this story big!
Did you hear that awful sound?
Another server’s down! The fanboys can be tiresome, they always are outspoken
And if you’re listening Kevin Rose, the comment system’s broken!
I know digg isn’t perfect, but be thankful for what we’ve got
It’s just like daddy always says: “At least it’s not Slashdot!!!”
Chorus: Gotta digg, gotta digg, gotta digg
Gotta make this story big!
Did you hear that awful sound?
Another server’s down!

I have heard it all now. Give me strength.
btw When is it being release on itunes?
I REALLY need to get this song onto my iPod.

Cooper – this thing is already on the top of Digg, as it should be.
That’s song was pretty good… congrats girls….
If you need beats, go to http://www.givemebeats.com
1.
My bad, should’ve scanned the front page first. Sorry! (wouldn’t be offended if you deleted both my comments)
Double digg bait. First for the song, and second for the techcrunch article about the song. Sad.
Did Dan Akerman make this video for Digg?
Seems a bit commercial to me
One of the lamest things about Digg is how many stories about Digg show up on the front page of Digg. When I go to the New York Times, I don’t go to read a bunch of stories about the New York Times, yet apparently news and references to Digg are the main topic of interest to Digg users.
In a way, it makes the whole site a sad echo chamber.
for the record, it’s congressman ron paul – NOT senator ron paul
Catchy!
Meh
Good voice and guitar-playing skill, but the lyrics are just mediocre.
tough crowd.
Buried
congressman Ron Paul
And I think congressman goes better in the lyrics
tough crowd is right! it’s a catchy song & a great way for her to try & win the superbowl contest.
She has what it takes. Charm, humility and not a bad voice at all. Wish her luck!
very nice! now we ae waiting for the techcrunch song.
or maybe an elfyourself version with the editors
Some really good stuff?

guitar-playing, weed-smelling hippy
This song is so catchy and the harmonies are great — I love it! She has my vote!
This was great! Thanks for sharing…
I think this is a marketing effort of MySpace to squeeze more market share from facebook. Just speculation. Reason 1: these girls are too cute to be “real ones”; reason 2: go to her blog and you will see the need to sign up a MySpace account to support her. “tell your facebook friends” – that is fishy. Still, I really like the song and the girl.
Don’t forget the Facebook song!
I would bet 1 dollar that this whole thing is paid by digg… one whole daalah!!
This is exactly why digg isn’t amazing. The potential is there but this kind of BS gets to the top. Does anyone agree?

“She has what it takes. Charm, humility and not a bad voice at all.”
I love how all it takes now is “not a bad voice at all.” Thanks American Idol for ruining the standards of great music by giving half-ass musicians delusions of grandeur.
@26 Ryan, i agree with you.
Slashdot > Digg.
Here Comes Another Bubble raised the bar on tech-related songs. Its hard to compete against something like that. But I do have to admit that I think this song is much better than Valleyfreude (http://valleywa...-ipo-276235.php)
Excellent!
hey, but michael, you’re not going to help her out unless you post what she is trying to accomplish with that video — she may have youtube fame now, but she is trying to get people to vote for her so she can have her music video played at the superbowl:
“Don’t forget to go to http://www.cras...hesuperbowl.com to vote for me! (You have to login to MySpace to vote…urk…but it’s worth it!) There’s just one week left! Leave a comment if you vote so I know who to thank!
”
btw. yes! the song is awesome. hhehe
Mike’s IPOD. he download infamous leave britney spears alone.
le s take a bet: she receives at least one proposal from a label/major within the next 2 weeks (does not mean she ll accept)
Take a look at this Facebook song (not the same as previously mentioned) –
http://www.rhet...s/facebook-song
It’s hilarious.
for those that doubt that these are ‘real’ digg girls, i know the girl on the right and know for a fact she uses digg
@30 – yes, but that was like weird Al – this tune is original, and pretty damn good. Somebody will snatch her up quickly if they are smart. Get her in a real studio to lay some tracks. Interesting enough, I wonder if it will be a traditional label or something created online?
Rex
This is a great song! How did you find this? Best Digg Fan submission yet.
-Jay
P.S… We’re working on the comments…
I’m downloding the song to my ipod with filsh.net. Great one!
Michael,
What is the deal with your love for digg.com? Everything about that site ends up on techcrunch and written by you. Something is going on here.
@dc – “Something is going on here.” Yes, that something is that it’s Michael’s blog. *gasp*
This song rocks, and it has to be said, the chick is very hot.
35, 38 – Are you serious? No legit label is going to offer this girl a deal…
“Get her in a real studio to lay some tracks.”
With acoustic music like this you don’t need to be in a studio to sound good. Just about every band these days self-records, and every other kid in America wants to become a rock star.
If she recorded a good album she would get a deal, but a cute Digg song is not going to draw any attention from any decent label.
I feel bad for this girl for all the publicity she is getting for this. It is only going to make it worse when she doesn’t go anywhere, but that is what she gets for using Digg to promote herself.
If you want to promote something and actually have it become popular, definitely don’t depend on Digg. Publicity from Digg, TechCrunch, Slashdot, Reddit, etc is only going to bring a spike in the short-run.
If you want fans or a user base that stick around for the long-run, you better have a good product, whether that is a web app or an album.
Awesome song, it’s hilarious.
PR to the work. Anyway great result
I have voted for you already. She is a talent!
Wow, did that just happen?
This is really a cool song, I was thinking that some thing like this will surely come up.
I hate digg.com, this song just re-enforces why.
digg me MOAR1! i DIGG these chicks!
disclaimer*im not actually fake kevin rose, perhaps im fake fake kevin rose
