@azam -

Mixx doesn't even have a deal with Time magazine. And the deal with LA Times does not mean their search results are favored. Some idiot got that idea by misreading the press release, and it was then debunked.

Are you just trolling?

I'll be the first to admit that I do not now much about either Ron Paul or those who support him. However, I do have a question about the effectiveness of Mixx in enabling the "Ron Paul Crowd" to get the job done - for whatever job it is that they are trying to get done.

In other words, you mentioned that Ron Paul supporters would be able to create their own group on Mixx with just Ron Paul stories. And that is where the crux of my question centers.

Do Ron Paul zealots - or anyone else with a cause - want to (1) preach to the choir and (2) read yet more literature about their pet cause, OR, are they "out on a mission to convert everyone else to their cause?"

In other words, do creating groups defeat the purpose of what they are trying to accomplish? By creating a group, it automatically "walls them off" from the very people to whom they are trying to reach, which runs counter to why they are expending so much time and effort in making the posts in the first place. It would seem that these individuals make contributions to sites like Digg not so much so that others who share the same view can relish in the new found information, but so that others who do not share the same opinion might be swayed?

Is TechCrunch invested in Mixx or something? They mention it too many times in relation to the quality of the site. There have been digg clones out there for years that have features like Mixx is just adding now.

Anyone want to help me make a mixx clone? We'll wait until mixx is crowded with a bunch of rude assholes, and then well market this clone as a better version of mixx, without all of the assholes. Techcrunch will pick it up at least 3 times.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that news sites where priority is picked by crowds is a relatively bad idea?

People en masse are generally a stupid lot, and I'm not sure I'd want to read what they've picked in the first place. :-p

Some of the reader who left comment earlier fail to realize a few things.
You can customize Mixx. Hence the "Your Mixx" section. You can follow technology just like you can in Digg. I was an avid Digg user then moved over to Mixx after Greg Davies got banned. He is a freind of mine so I thought I would check it out. Now I am more active on Mixx then I am at Digg. Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing Digg, it has it's strong points. I have found the community at Mixx to be more polite though.
Also the feature in Mixx have improved it's functionality and usability. Guess where they got the idea for these features...the users. This is another strong point on Mixx. The founder Chris McGill, and his staff are constantly involved with their users. If you send an e-mail to Mixx feadback, they actually get back to, and not some generic e-mail saying "Thanks for your concern." You will get an e-mail from a staff member and they thrive on your feedback good or bad. They realize that the site is USER GENERATED CONTENT. This more then I can say for a few other sites.
As far as the comment "If I want to read news I will go to Digg," Head over to Mixx and click the NEWS tab. Try it, it works.
If you would also check out some releases from Kevin Rose he said they are thinking about brining awards to the Digg community. Mixx has been doing that since launch. How long did it take for Digg to get a picture section? Mixx had it at launch. Don't knock it until you roll up your sleeves, and get in the Mix.

btw, cloning isn't good. we don't really need three sites of the same thing, then later an aggregation site above it. then again 3 clones of the aggregation sites...
