Another day, another Google announcement, and this one fits right in to the silly season. Google is offering Christmas themed gadgets for Google Desktop and iGoogle users who want to spruce up their desktops with holiday kitsch.
According to Google:
You can decorate a Christmas tree, listen to music, exchange ornaments with a friend, count down to the New Year, and more. They look right at home on your desktop, or you can put them in the Google Desktop sidebar or your iGoogle home page.
But wait, these aren’t just ordinary gadgets!
Take the Christmas Tree gadget, for instance. When you start it up, it’s a simple tree with gently falling snow. With a few clicks you can add ornaments wherever you like. If you find the animated precipitation distracting, you can hide the snowflakes.
HoHoHo and someone pour me a drink. More details on the Google Desktop Blog here.

What a nice Google they are!
What type of world would we live in if you couldn’t exchange virtual ornaments?
Well it could be worse, they could try to charge you a dollar for a virtual gift exchange, but that would be ridiculous.
a better one
Can you and I design iGoogle themes?
…and just like decorations after Christmas, there would be a big handful of us who don’t take the ‘Christmas gadgets’ down until February.
I just added it and it’s wonderful.

Yep…it’s staying until the snow subsides!

oddly enough I didn’t run the other Google story of the day which was Google India adding cricket scores to Google News. As someone who spent 2 1/2 awful years working at the WACA trust me when I say I know what it means

They are trying to consume us all!! even during holidays, when we’re suppose to spend time AWAY from the computer and cuddling with real people in-the-flesh.

Probably part of their aggressive expansion strategy…
Their will take over the world
No where or no thing is safe from Google
I really like how Google keeps getting new and great add-ons for our desktops - very interesting and I can imagine all sorts of features I can add to my blog. Without risking overwhelming the readers, I am sure I can find a lot more amazing gadgets on the Holiday season this year!

I can’t stand these widgets. They slow my PC down when ever I add a couple of them.
