I was approached by a client recently to develop a fashion based social network site but after a few lengthy discussions we discovered that there probably wasn't an simple way to commercialise the concept outside of banners etc. Needless to say it didnt go anywhere (thank god!) I'm also curious: seeqpod is essentially Napster. Techwise, they were both databases that pointed to the files, one being ftp the other being people's hard drive. At what point do you cross that line to be sued to oblivion? Wasn't the crux of the Napster lawsuit that be having a repository of links it was promoting copyright infringement?
