Magnify.net And ClipSyndicate Partner For Embedded Content

Video discovery and broadcast service Magnify.net has partnered with ClipSyndicate to give users the ability to search and embed content from a variety of mainstream media sites.

Magnify.net users will have access to content from providers including ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates, Bloomberg, AP and Fox News. The additional content allows for the creation of new channels that can be used to build communities around topical news and niche markets.

Magnify.net has a sample site covering the Barak Obama campaign here; I presuming that it’s meant to demonstrate the tech alone given how awful the design is, so it might be best to ignore that part.

Magnify.net is currently serving 12 million+ page views per month and over 22,000 publishers. See our previous coverage of Magnify.net here.

22,000 publishers… mostly mainstream?

I have used their services and will tell you tis much that they need a much better service and infrastructure. They need to upgrade their system, i kept getting TCP connection error and page speed was slow as heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel

What is a Lvideo discovery service”? Isn’t that what YouTube is? Will we discover videos on Magnify.net that we won’t on You TubeV

Ok.. answered by http://www.magnify.net/blog/it.....-Amazon-S3
which said -

… serving over 20,000 high-quality user-generated content publishers

why is this newsworthy? is 12 million page views impressive for a company that’s been around for 2.5 years? or is duncan friends with the CEO of magnify? my guess is that it’s the latter…

I’m not sure how this is sustainable as a company, long-term. I mean, taking other people’s content and leveraging it to create communities? That’s what half the internet is about, and there are already enough sites, big and small, that are doing that.

While I like magnify’s approach with building a video community. I was not too excited about it’s implementation. That was about 8 months ago and magnify could have fixed some of their issues (I did not brother to check). Instead I spent 6 months of my free time to create a video bookmarking service that doubles as a video gallery service (myvidster.com). This was done with no VC money and i used it to create a video community around salsa dancing for my hometown Indianapolis which work our really well. Check it would at http://www.myvidster.com/salsaindy

hard to say or predict.. vc’s can do wonders beyond imagination.. eg., cisco’s picking up of tribe.net if we remember.. cisco’s stupid? hardly.. their investment into plaxo, once thought of to be nuts.. now plaxo is arguably a significant player in what tim o’reilly calls web2.0 address book…

Clip, hmmmm

This is good news to me - I’ve been using Magnify since for a couple of sites for over a year and been impressed by the advances with the interface.

I typically focus on mostly my own video content there, but will definitely tap into the “real” news sources, too.

We are very excited about the new Magnify/ClipSyndicate partnership. It brings depth to the content offering available to the audience far beyond the reach of YouTube alone or in combination with Google and in a much more timely manner. And yes, to answer an earlier comment, new content may be found on Magnify that doesn’t exist elsewhere.

Magnify allows publishers to customize their platforms. If you visit the link you will see where the same “awful” (but functional) design has been equally applied across the board for all the candidate’s sites. They are place holders where candidates may customize their own Election 08 page. http://election08.policlicks.com

We’ve been working with Magnify for about a year now and are more than pleased with the value they bring to our business.
