To Facebook User Operations,

I am writing to express my concern about Facebook disabling the account of Marcus 'Token' Gordon (black_messiah@o2.co.uk) for no reason. Facebook is supposed to be a social site and it defeats the purpose of the service when the accounts of popular and active users are randomly disabled, thus cutting them off from their network of contacts and destroying irrevocably what they have spent months and/or years building up here: photo albums, notes, groups, personal updates via facebook mobile and all the information of a personal nature stored in the mailbox, etc.

Please give Marcus his account back asap as he has done nothing wrong and a great number of people miss him.

Please see also the Facebook group to reinstate Marcus' account

Facebook is absolutely heartless and brutal...

I was a long time very active member , spent lots of money on sparechange for game apps ... and my account was disabled when i tried a "New" game app .... I guess this game app some how makes it look like spam ?

Anyway the game app wrote on their forum that there sorry for the problems .... Tons of people got disabled!

I appealed , explaining that I'm a "Good" member of the FB community ~ its a large part of my every day life ... and copy paste the game developers post ... explaining that i simply installed this app ,, diddnt even play it or anything , and how am i to take blame for this app they approved ?

They replied 4 days later saying my appeal was understood but denied , my account will not be reactivated under any circumstance ... nudity or harassment or discussions of sexuality is not permitted! @___@ ?????????????????????

I'm 100% certain without any shadow of a doubt i did not post nudity , did not harass anyone , and if saying "he's cute" in a private msg to a girlfriend is discussing sexuality then i guess I'm guilty of breaching some 14 century roman catholic law.

Its really disgusting face-books almighty god attitude ... and I had never received a single warning for anything since i signed up almost 2 years ago... all my friends , family , schoolmates were the vital core of my account and many other great people I had met along the way.

I just refuse to ever sigh up to them again ,,, and i wont make any plugs! because it subtracts from the point of my post , but I've since found much better places to chill , where people are permitted some basic level of courtesy , and the right to be human.

I am more than little annoyed with facebook. I am INCENSED! Right now my account is not disable, but it may as well be since I can't respond to anything on either my own page or my friends pages! I can't believe this is happening to me. I have done NOTHING wrong to warrant such a draconian thing. It makes me feel like FB is putting me in the corner like a naughty five year old. It's ridiculous at best and fascist at worst!

Hello...

I'm quite upset right now. My husbands account was disabled some time during the night. So this morning I logged into my own account... I still had access... so I sent an email up to Facebook asking why my husbands account was disabled. He is a minister and uses Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family members as well as church members. When I logged back into my account after about two hours, MY account was disabled. We have not violated any terms or service agreements... and I'm confused! I have many photos and applications on my Facebook that I love (and yes... to the person who said I'm too attached) maybe I am! I have friends and family that I communicate with this way! I called the number I found in a google search, but it said that they did not do any customer service over the phone. (sadly). I contacted disabled@facebook.com and appeals@facebook.com. Still nothing. Both my husband and I are "Facebookless"... how sad! Is someone up at Facebook playing games? Can someone hack in and have us "disabled?" or wrongly accuse? Why can't Facebook check this out themselves? If they are so "overloaded" with work, why not get a proper work force to assist? It's aggravating and frustrating! =(

My experience with Facebook is complete lack of communication when they disable your account without warning. This is damaging in more ways than just an inconvenience - especially to those (like myself) that put trust in the Facebook platform as a business networking tool.

As an independent business owner myself I respectfully request a meeting with the owner to address this issue on behalf of myself & the many loyal Facebook users that are in the same boat I am

below is episode 2 / day 6 of this Facebook disabled account saga:

My first warnings were for posting HAPPY BIRTHDAY (all caps) and writing a short message on people's walls. Got a warning that I "might" be engaging in this long list of no-nos. Harassing and trying to sell things are the two that come to mind. But, obviously, I wasn't doing either. Then, weeks or months later, I posted something about a positive event, something I was happy about, a followup to a problem I'd talked about, on my own wall. I had to do the little spam test where you have to read the jumbled letters and put them into the box. I had to do that several times just when commenting to a friend, joining in a conversation, even commenting on my own post. Felt really put down and belittled. My friends and I are all scrambling, trying to figure out why we get these warnings.

We actually fought a real cyberstalker who threatened to kill a 5 year old, harm me, kill many of our pets, etc. Took over a week to get any real action by FB.

But, other people have been disabled for no reason.

For me, I had the above history of warnings. Oh, and I think "chatting" might actually be on that list. Huh? Thought that was the point. I know that there is online chat available, but when it's more than two people talking, you can't use it. There is no three way chat.

If you comment too often and too fast, you can get warned. But, there is nothing in their intial policies that say to not use it too much. I mean, they are in some ways trying to get us to use it less, and that makes no sense.

Users scramble amongst themselves to try to figure out how to play by rules we don't understand.

And, when my account was disabled, I was trying to do what they seem to want. I was going to a friend's page to leave a private message rather than comment on the more public page. I'd been playing a game all day, and then started talking to some friends.

Suddenly, I was shut off. I was told to log back on, and when I tried to do so, my account had been disabled.

I have sunk back into depression and am very afraid to use fb now. It has impacted my health and well-being. I've even had my work impacted because I'm scrambling trying to figure out how to contact all my friends now. I have been extremely preoccupied with this. I called my therapist to schedule an appointment once my account was disabled. I've upped my anti-depressants. I want to sleep all the time. I'm a mess. This isn't funny or something to make light of. I bought into being able to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. I used fb as a way to deal with ongoing depression and to try to reengage in the world again. And, for a time, it was extremely helpful. Until the plug was pulled, and the life I was slowly rebuilding was crushed yet again.

The way they treat customers is horrid. There is no easy way to get in touch with them. I didn't believe that people just got their accounts disabled for no good reason. I read the rules and felt I was following them. I even emailed them about the first warnings, stating I was telling my friends happy birthday. Can I help it that a bunch of my friends have birthdays at the same time?

FB becomes such a part of your life. I know people who are limiting their time on fb in order to not get disabled. Is that really good for their business? And, once it has happened to you or a close friend, it is a really scary thing. It's like your life gets erased, like you no longer exist.

Sounds silly, but such is the world of social networking.

FB has a decent product, but they will lose if they do not improve customer service. That is a real problem there. They treat people really badly, reprimanding them but for no specific reason. They even refuse to give specific reasons. It's unbelievable.

I am just sick. I'm complaining everywhere I can. I know eventually they will have to do better, or they will lose their lion's share of the market they now have.

I do not want to lose anything else. Although a direct violation, I'd recommend everyone have a backup profile because your world collapses when they suddenly disable you.

FB has a decent product, but they will lose if they do not improve customer service. That is a real problem there. They treat people really badly, reprimanding them but for no specific reason. They even refuse to give specific reasons. It’s unbelievable.

I am just sick. I’m complaining everywhere I can. I know eventually they will have to do better, or they will lose their lion’s share of the market they now have.

I do not want to lose anything else. Although a direct violation, I’d recommend everyone have a backup profile because your world collapses when they suddenly disable you.

Hello fellow honorable former Facebook members who have been unjustly disabled from Facebook because of Facebooks insensitive, uncaring, completely ambiguous nonspecific rules, regulations, limits, priorities and exceeding an unknown prohibited rate of making new friends policy as well as their practically nonexistent inaccurate extremely poor customer service!

Fellow justifiably angry former Facebook members will you please email your complaints regarding "DISGRAGEBOOK" to the Better Business Bureau of California by cutting and pasting WWW.BBB.ORG into your web browser and follow the simple instruction to access the California BBB complaint site. To access the correct California complaint site you need to have Facebooks zip code which is 94301. Once you are into the complaint form you need to have Facebooks corporate address, phone and fax number which is: Facebook, Inc., 156 University Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301, phone number, 650-543-4800 or 650-853-1300, and fax number, 650-543-4801

Once you have filed your electronic complaint with the California BBB please fax your complaint to Facebook at their fax number, 650-543-4801. After faxing your complaint to Facebook please call Facebook 650-543-4800 &/or 650-853-1300 and leave a verbal complaint on their answering service. Now, upon completion of this, please snail mail your complaint to, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook, inc., 156 University Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301. Upon completion of this, please snail mail your complaint to, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, State Capital Building, Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear friends, please ask all those you know who have been unjustly disabled from Facebook to send their complaints to the aforementioned in the proceeding paragraph. We need to get organized and inform the world that Facebook is not a cute little billion dollar social network it portrays itself to be to the public and to those who are silly enough to advertise on this wretched social network now rechristened "DISGRACEBOOK."

Thank you in advance for your participation in getting your complaints to those who will eventually correct "DISGRACEBOOK'S" insensitive inhumane non-benevolent disgraceful business practices.

My account in facebook has been disabled today while playing Mafia Wars. I do send messages and postings on walls but I did nothing wrong. There is nothing wrong when you are posting message in walls but why did they disabled my account.

Once a person has been disabled for violating Terms of Service is there anyway to re-qualify for service after a certain length of time away or paying a minimal fine? I think the "life sentence" for such permanently disabled accounts is unreasonable and unfair.

I think Facebook is, hands-down, the best social networking site on the internet to this day. The site distributes information while maintaining a level of personal integrity and privacy, ideal when attempting to make contacts on the web.

However, it's appalling customer service has left me hanging for an entire business week after I was hacked by someone using the infamous 419 scam to beg my friends for money. After hacking a user's password using look-a-like, illicit log-in pages, the spammer is able to access the user's Facebook page, including a lot of personal information and contacts of friends.

I have been incessantly emailing the Facebook team about my situation, to no avail. The one email I received from Dori, a member of the team, gave me a glimmer of hope, that slowly faded as a week passed, and no attempt at contact was made.

From a site as notable as Facebook, this was frankly disappointing, and put a severe damper on my enthusiasm for the site. What's more, as I am preparing for a huge music gig in august, trying to advertise my blog, gain employment as a writer in a newspaper in Boulder, and trying to find roommates at a new school, I do not have access to the most useful social networking tool I have, and it has been taken away unfairly.

Hacking is clearly not something to be taken lightly, but neither are 25 emails from a pissed-off student. who relies on Facebook for many aspects of her life.

Also, I'd like to know that all of my personal information is secure, and a little reassurance from the Facebook team via a short email is not too much to ask for.

Upon doing further research, many former users of the social networking site have complained about Facebook's terrible customer service. One blogger posted she was permanently disabled for sending too many "Happy Ramadan!" messages. Unfortunately for this blogger, she suffered a month of no food AND no Facebook, and, at the point of her posting, STILL hadn't received any help from Facebook.

With no explanation and no support, Facebook cuts off their access to fan bases, friends, photos, peers, colleagues, and coworkers. Bloggers across the country are now turning to Twitter due to their open policies about posting.

MY SUGGESTION: Email incessantly. Write every admin account you can find, every day. Anyone replies? Keep writing that email. Fight for what you want.

From a corporation as noted and celebrated by the media, I would have expected more.

I've been trying to get my FB account since June 2nd, my only fault was sending too many F/R's but I was not harassing anyone since all the people I added where in the same forum where Playfish games Pet Society and Restaurant City are discussed. This is all very frustrating!
