adbrite-logo.pngAd networks are still catching money like rain. AdBrite raised $23 million from existing investors Sequoia Capital and Hedge fund Artis Management, reports Dan Primack. This is on top of $12 million, the company has already raised. In October, comScore ranked AdBrite as the 26th largest ad network after MySpace. Its ads reached 71 million people that month, representing a 39 percent reach of U.S. Internet traffic.

AdBrite, which was founded by Philip “Pud” Kaplan of FuckedCompany.com fame, targets ads based on demographics. It also offers an embeddable video player that incorporates ads as clickable watermarks.

That’s a pretty big reach - guess I should sign up with them and run some ads on my site instead of google adsense

There’s just not enough advertising in the world. Thank goodness for AdBrite. The logo makes me feel like brushing my teeth

They are just not worth it.

I use their ad’s on a few of my sites. They are only good when the site is popular enough for people to buy ads. The ones they use otheriwse are generally all random and not content related like Google.

    Anyone else feel that?

Didn’t they start out as a Comet Cursor type company?

……..”The logo makes me feel like brushing my teeth”

    That was hilarious!

dead on Ollie - it’s unfortunate that no one except me is willing to say that:

    Shiney Ads!
    Who would have thunk?

I’ve heard on the grapevine that their engineers are discontent, and there’s massive turnover.

  11. Ad Brite the hand that feeds them

Is this one of those ‘Fucked Companies’? Seems ironic to find such success considering it’s founders.

I really hope they will use the $23m to improve the core product instead of blowing it on marketing their current offering.

There are so many companies that have the potential in online advertising space, like the New York/Israel-based Quigo that AOL bought earlier this month, but few can deliver as good results as Gaggle Adsense.

Very funny ” The logo makes me feel like brushing my teeth”

Joke of the day… I love it ..

They might be bought by some one soon. Countdown starts today…

I think you are right Ollie. I have used both Adbrite and Adsense on my sites and AdBrite are not quite yet on the level of Adsense.
Sometimes you get ads that have nothing to with the context on the site and sometimes they seem to just put an ad just like a filler but I think they are going in the right direction and this funding may help them get there quicker hopefully.

You got to love their logo and it seems like a nice alternative to Adsense.

When I first heard of this company a long time ago, they where a dime a dozen but with recent consolidation, those numbers are very impressive, wouldn’t be surprising if they where bought out… and soon! :-)

Adbrite - Pathetic CTR, cheapo ads with nothing relavent, most of them bids 5 cents per click and eCPM is horrible and as low as 10 cents!!

  18. Andy Schweig

Agreed on bad performance posts. Make their money off a ton of adult content. (avnads)

I’ve advertised using Adbrite in the past. I got sucked into doing so by a salesperson who coldcalled and made all kinds of promises that were never met. The advertisements performed piss poor in comparison to the same kinds of ads on the major networks, and, needless to say, we stopped using them after our initial commitment was exhausted.

Not bad for a useless company.

If you want to pay clickbot networks to burn through your money via fake proxies from Taiwan, go ahead, sign up.

Oh, and you’re probably going to be considered “low priority” once you try to get that money back: http://blog.auinteractive.com/.....ews-part-5
