What’s the top news story on TechMeme this fine Tuesday afternoon?
It’s a story about the sudden disappearance of the word “is” from Facebook’s status message yesterday. Then, today, it reappeared. For a brief period of time, users could create a status message that did not include the word “is” in it.
Wired Magazine saw fit to write on it, as did most of the other top tech blogs.
I say we all need a vacation. Badly.

Facebook really should drop “is.” It’s awkward. I’m not always “is” doing something. Something I “am” or “isn’t” or, well, you get the point.

I think social networking sites are as much to blame for obesity in US along with Mcdonalds and pizza huts. While facebooks and myspaces are extremely popular and bloggers have endless appetite to write about them, in the end they drive little productivity. There should be a ‘blogfree day!’.
Writing about a blog post you decided to take a vacation from. That’s funny, isn’t that a blog post in and of itself?
While on the topic, I was receiving a odd string error when updating my status last week. The status kept on placing “is is” before my input status. I thought maybe I had mistakenly wrote “is”, in the status field. So, the next time I made it a point to leave out the “is” and it still read “is is…” Seems to be the opposite problem.

I think Allen post#9 is on to something. TCrunch staff, during the Thanksgiving holiday (just Turkey Day, or Black Friday), should take time off, but leave behind one poor soul to man the editorial store. Then, say six ‘fill in’ bloggers let loose for one day, a mix of pros and unknowns. Kind of a User Generated Content day, perhaps set up by a contest beforehand to see who gets to fill in. Anyone?
