Attention open-source hardware aficionados. Bug Labs, the startup developing a Lego-like device that lets engineers mix-and-match different modules to create any digital device they can dream up, has its first working prototype. CrunchGear has a very cool video:
CrunchGear also has more pics (like the one below) here:

Apart from the fact this looks REALLY cool, I don’t really get what I can do with that from the video.
But it looks interesting
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just buy an end device? Is clunky in style?
It’s pretty big, but pretty cool. Wouldn’t fit in my pocket though. :/
Another company with similar hardware prototyping widgets is Phidgets.

(I’m not affiliated, but am a happy customer)
It sounds amazing.
Any idea of pricing and availability?
You could make a cool alien finder app with one!
Imagine setting one up with a motion sensor, night vision camera and GPS module.
You could point the device into the night sky and everytime there is movement, the motion sensor would sense it, turn on the camera and take a photo, take the aerial coordinates and upload to your site..
Add multiple devices and some fun could be had
this is sooo coool…
This looks cool for hobbyists but for everyone else, it just looks like more ‘landfill.’
this is so racoool.
huh
I sooo want one of these.
