Paypal has just introduced a new way to scam you out of some of your money. Here’s a recent email I received from Paypal.

“Many of you asked us to make tracking your PayPal Debit Card cash back simpler. You got it.
Starting August 1, 2009, the cash back earned on your PayPal Debit Card transactions will be combined into a single deposit and paid monthly, rather than after each transaction, making your record keeping easier.
Your cash back rate won’t change.”

What this means is that Paypal will now keep your cash back money and not release it till the end of the month. You are in fact making Paypal a interest free loan of your money till the end of the month. Now this only means a few dollars kept back per person till the end of the month but multiply that by the millions of people that use it and Paypal is holding back Millions of Dollars till the end of the month.

BEFORE even thinking of using anything Paypal, PLEASE do an internet search of “Paypal Scam” or “Paypal Rip Off”.

The FACTS about what Paypal REALLY does to it’s users (owned by the very deceitful, corrupt ebay), such as up to 180 day holds on their funds, will be enough to make even the most trusting company or individual rightfully, RUN from that company!

Paypal fees are the big killer, but a portable pay anyone and be paid by anyone sytem like paypal in essence is a very useful thing. Added benefits are bonuses!

This would be perfect if PayPal also offered it for other card brands, not just MasterCard.

I need to pay for something by Discover Card but just have VISA.

The Merchant just takes Money Orders/BankChecks or Discover

Why can’t PayPal, being they work with all the cards, also allow this one-time-use card to be for ANY of the cards they handle????? … Hmmmm????

NOT JUST MASTERCARD

THAT would be innovative, and very handy for the consumer, after all, this was a purchase from someone on eBay, and PayPal is part of eBay, and it would make things so much easier to pay someone.

It would also be a good idea to offer a virtual money order, and / or offer the option to mail an actual money order to someone, without having to go to the bank to get it, put it in an envelope, place a stamp on it, and put it in the mail-box.

OH well!! … even if they did do it, most likely it’ll be too late for this purchase

AJT, if you are having issues on FireFox only, you can still install the latest version of the plugin and just disable it from Firefox directly (Tools>>Addons>>Disable). Works for me, and I just remember to use IE when shopping!

I installed the new plug-in and Firefox stopped working. I have Vista and IE 7 and something shuts down Firefox. I uninstalled the plug-in and Firefox works again. I emailed PayPal about the problem and all they gave me are system requirements which don’t mention Vista.

I also asked them how to get back to the original Beta version because it worked with Vista and IE 7. So far, nothing back from PayPal. I even tried moving the original Beta version from my old PC with no luck.
